2008 Cobalt
2008 Cobalt
So is there any info on what happenin for 08? I know its probably too early. What do you guys think they are going to change completely? Any ideas? I'm definitely getting an 08 because by then I will have over 10k for a down payment and I dont wana pay monthly. I might go for the Saturn or Pontiac version. I am definitely getting the SS/SC with the G85 if they keep it that way.
There is an interesting post at gminsidenews.com...
Its about a Cobalt 2008 redesign...
the post is here: http://www.gminsidenews.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=35024
A response from a user called 91z4me is telling...he wrote of the following changes:
"Reskin, interior, and likely 6 speed autos on some models. SS should get the 2.0 DI Turbo Ecotec"
Now, if you look at other posts by 91z4me they are particularly insightful as to what GM is doing...I suspect he is very much on the inside of things...
So...it is highly likely that the above mentioned changes will occur....

it could be faster than the s/c...but those of us that are modded would probably still have the advantage, while the turbos willl have to wait for an aftermarket like we did. I really hope they don't do this....it's gonna kill the aftermarket....companies won't know which engine to make mods for

We, us 2.0 s/c engine guys would lose the aftermarket. Since all of a sudden, the 2.0 turbo is in the sky, solstice, soon hhr, and soon cobalt, there won't be the 2.0 s/c engine anymore. GM ***** up once again. Sorry for the langauge but i'm pissed off they are going to a turbo since I originally wanted the cobalt to be turbocharged. They should've done it from the begining.
Nah, I don't think it will be worth anything down the road. It's american. And it has been made past the 70's. The reason why the old cars are worth more money than what they cost originally is because they are built very well. Nowadays, cars are built to be mass produced and cheap.

Not to argue but I think you are wrong. The reason old cars like 69Camaros, Cudas, Chargers and so on are worth more now is because the generation that grew up with those cars are older, wanting to relive a part of their youth, and have the money to do it. So those cars become collectible because maybe they had one when they were younger or always wanted one but couldn't afford it back then.
So flash forward to 2030 and the cars you see today like the SS/SC, RX8, 350z and several others will be up in value too as they age because there will be people from our generation who wanted one when they were younger but couldn't swing it.
I can't say how much those cars will be worth because I can't predict the future but I can tell you they will be somewhat collectable down the road. Not 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible collectible, but probably as collectible as say the nonhemi/440 mopars or the nonrare Camaros of the muscle car period.
