i just bought my SS 2 months ago and im very satisfied with it. But all this talk about maybe a turbo balt for the new year or maybe discontinuing balts this next year, or no more SS models is starting to drive me nuts. when exactly does chevy make the announcement of what they're gonna put on the shelves for 2008? if you ask me its already september and chevy hasnt said a word about whats gonna be new for 2008 cobalt models, cuz if they are puttin out a turbo balt then i have to stop moddin my 07' SS.

 

There will be no 08 turbo balt. POSSIBLY an 09

That doesnt mean that it will be out for the '08 model year... Its way to close to '08 production/release for them to be building TC cobalts and NO ONE know about it...

Look for it in '09

i almost sprung for ss/sc but i figured i'd get more out of puttin a turbo on a 2.4L SS. but if chevys gonna put out a factory turbo setup then id trade in my SS for the turbo balt and get a warranty w/ the turbo as oppsed to voiding all my warranties by slappin a turbo on my SS myself. either way i'll have a balt with a turbo by 09' whether i put it on or i trade in .

 

Personally i think im going to buy a G8, just debating on how "winter" savvy the car is going to be...!!

 

A cobalt with brembo brakes? I saw one today, but I thought someone put them on. Awesome!!1 It must hav been the ss/tc. It also had a monster ass spearco intercooler on it too.

That guy on there is so full of ****. If he actually saw this supposed turbo cobalt, where are some pics that would even give any kind of indication of it?

yeah there is nothing speacial coming out for 2008, im looking at the brochure that i got from the chevy dealer. and all they did is drop the ss\sc and change the name of the ss and they are calling the cobalt sport thats it. if you want me to ill scan the specs page of the brochure.

 

i went to my local dealership the other day and the salesman told me i could pre-order an 08 cobalt but i couldn't pick my options because he didn't know the available options.?.?.

 

The Ion Redline won't come back because the Ion is discontinued completely. It's been replaced by the (Opel) Astra. There's a possibility of an Astra red line, likely a version of the Opel Astra OPC, but I don't think it will show up until next summer or fall at the earliest. They are only going to import 30,000 or so Astras for 2008.

Gullableone - have your dealer check the online order guide or dealerworld again. The complete options for the 2008 Cobalt are indeed available.

The SS/TC won't be a 2008. I'm still sticking with the same notion I've had all along - that it will be announced at NAIS in January and available next summer as an early 09.

 

I think it will 2010 so they can hype it up with the camaro.
