3 spoke steering wheel

does anyone happen to know the part number to the newer 3 spoke steering wheels, how much they go for, and if i'd be able to get it installed on my '06? i really like the 3 spoke look and feel a lot more than the 4 spoke i have.

The new wheel has different radio controls
If you don't swap out the radio as well, these controls will not function correctly.

I'm using the VIN from my 07 SS/SC for the number. It has the 3 spoke design.

15942932 - WHEEL ASM-STRG *EBONY
Dealer Price $156.47 List Price $274.51 Trade Price $205.88

As for the question of will it work, I think the switches will work because the SIR coil in the steering column has the connectors for them and the coils are the same from 05-07. But the SDM that controls the airbags could be different between the 2. There's a 6-loop module and an 8-loop module. All depending on your option codes. You might have radio controls but I wouldn't chance the airbag part.

I've never tried it personally, but that information comes from a post made by I think it was Silver_SS/SC. The guy that had that huge thread in the electronics section about upgrading to the 07 factory head unit. Once the install was complete, the only thing that didn't work right was the radio controls on his old wheel. The issue he was having wasn't that they wouldn't wire up right, but that the buttons used different signal levels to comunicate different controls. So, the buttons did things, but not the right things.

It only make sense that the same issues would happen in the other direction.

I've found schematics for the steering wheel controls for both the 06's and the 07's. It shows the resistance differences between the 2 and the values for each button.

Hope it helps....

So does anyone know, I hate to hijack this thread, but will cruise control buttons added to the steering wheel give me cruise control, cause judging from a friends 07 balt with cruise to mine without, the wires all look the same under the hood and on the brake and clutch pedal, only difference I see is the buttons there.
