3D Printing SS parts
3D Printing SS parts (looking for ideas on what to print)
Hello guys! So I recently bought a 2009 LNF Cobalt SS and I had to print a lot of stuff to fix it. So far I have 3d printed stuff like the actuator gear for that pesky HVAC motor, a new hinge for the glove box, new clips for the engine bay, I also 3d printed the chevy badge on the front of the car, and I 3d printed the side panel on the rear spoiler. Ive done so much 3d printing that I've wondered what else I could 3d print for the car! I have a Markforged Mark Two 3d printer which is capable of printing parts that are as strong as aluminum if not stronger by using continuous carbon fiber. The print actually has a second nozzle which it uses to embed continuous carbon fiber/ fiberglass/ or kevlar layers inside of parts. This is what allows the printer to make some seriously strong parts with insane surface quality. The plastic can handle up to roughly 200 degrees Celsius without melting or deforming. I have 3d printed some parts that are used on motorcycles and robots and now I want to take it to a new level. I am looking for suggestions as to what I should print for the car. It can be an engine component, exterior stuff, interior stuff, whatever! If enough people would want me to I can even sell these parts online for everyone as well. Post your ideas below and Ill check in and see what is feasible and interesting.
some characteristics:
The plastic used is a modified nylon that can handle up to roughly 200 C
lightweight and strong ( comparable to aluminum )
good surface finish and can easily be glued/painted
the colour of the plastic is a shiny black
Here is a link to the printer if you want to learn more
