I've head of people putting a 3800 in a Cavy before. Only a couple big problems. I wouldn't mind seeing one done. I probably won't be the one doing it though.

it'd be cool to put the new Impala SS engine into it, but the engine bay is too small huh?

it could be done but there'd be some major chopping done to the engine bay, not to mention the suspension would need major adjusting for the extra weight and the gear ratios would need to be changed to keep up with all the extra torque...a lot of work

If you changed the cobalt to a v8 you'd want to change it to rwd or awd anyway. The stock tranny wouldnt work. Idl like to see an LS2 swap myself.

The new Impala is fwd with the ls4, but I agree it should be rwd.

It would be best if it were rwd. It would also be best if the LS7 fit under the hood. Now thats a Cobalt.

I don't think the 6 liter ls2 would fit in a cobalt without major modification to the firwall and engine compartment. That would be sick though. I'd have first gear run to 60 mph so you could launch the car having less wheel spin than if it were only to go to around 35.

Why bother? I think it's easier to simply add a tall spoiler to an 06 GTO.

Isn't that a RWD engine? That'd make it a little more difficult...

The 5.3 L V8 is for FWD applications.

The 2.8 has less power than the standard LSJ. The LSJ is underrated don't forget so you end up with a bit more HP even tho the 2.8 is 210.

Do we need to give lessons on the difference between RWD and FWD engines??

And FYI.... the 3500 I-5 is nothing but the 4300 I-6 with a cylinder cut off.... and it sucks horribly....

No the new Impala SS and Monte Carlo SS have the 5.3L with Displacement On Demand. I saw one this weekend and PIR and the engine barely fits under the Impala's hood I highly doubt you can stuff it under the hood of the Cobalt, unless you stretch it like the Cobalt drag car. If you are going to that trouble I would convert it to AWD and stuff the LS7 in there.
