Air conditioning question
What is actually the ac on our cars. I thought the snow flake was but when i put it on circulate, it is very cold. I can tell a difference with the snow flake on. Also, when i put it on circulate, I can feel the compressor kick on, or thats what it feels like. Any one know what I am talking about? Thanks.

Well, I don't have the owner's manual in front of me ...
or, the car, as I am in the Camaro !
But, IIRC the button has to be pressed in to make the compressor kick in.
Not positive about that for Max A/C ( recirculate ) or Defrost.
The buttom I am referring to is the one on the LH side below & in between the the position selector knob ( face, feet, bi-level, defrost, yada yada yada ) & temp selector.
Hope this helps !

It's normal, but the actual A/C button is the snowflake.

Mine gets really cold without the snowflake, so I was wondering if I would save gas without the snowflake depressed. I think recirculate kick the compressor on though.

there is no way you will be able to tell the difference right now with the weather... stop fooling urself and wait till its a good 80 degrees out and not 40 lol. then try it without the snowflake button light illuminated... you'll see the difference.

The day I did it was 82 degrees on monday in lincoln county. It was really cold. I didnt even turn on the snowflake until about maybe 30 minutes and thought it might have gotten a little colder but couldnt tell when i turned it off. If it was colder, it wasnt much.

When you turn on recirculattion, the A/C compressor kicks on because the car sees you're asking for the coldest air possible. This happens regardless of whether or not the A/C button is "on". Same thinfg for the defrost or foot positions.
You won't save any gas by using recirculate and leaving the A/C off. Its the same system. However recirculate mode will get the air much colder than just having the A/C on.

How is it an "issue"? Is it fixable?
