to anyone calling trifecta a canned tune
if you think trifecta is canned tuned then explain this to me.
he sends you a tuner box which you hook up to your car. it comes with a tune that you install and then you drive around. this box has a datalogging featur, so you can hook it up to your wideband and have it log your afrs. then you put the tune on your computer via usb memory stick and upload it to an email. he updates and corrects the logs to get them to where they should be and then send you back the tune. so why is this a canned tune again?

either way it's better then a one size fits all chip.
you must be associating the word canned with the mail box because that's about the only thing that makes sense. vince sends you a professional tune in a unconventional manner. better then sitting on a dyno and paying 3x the price to get the exact same result, not to mention the new tunes with the logger are street tunes which is where must real tuners end up perfecting their tunes anyway.

Very similiar to what my buddy does w/ HPTUNERS...
If trifecta is customizing a tune specifically for your car, it's hardly a canned tune.
Now if they sold you a chip that was just plug n play and could no longer be customized per the specs of your vehicle. That would be considered a canned tune. (A.K.A EBAY CHIP, CLAIMING 20 HP INCREASE)

To the TO:
He sends you a scanner in the mail with a preprogrammed tune in it correct?
Thats a canned tune!
A CUSTOM CANNED TUNE!
The rest of us with HP Tuners we can change and adjust our tune indefinately whenever and where ever we want to!

Any tune customized for a specific vehicle is not a canned tune.
An example of a canned tune would be the SCT Xcal reflash for n-srt4s that are packaged with AGP's 400whp kit. That's an example off the top of my head of a high horsepower canned tuned that works.
Using that logic, a guy that has never done any ECM tuning in his life, installs a cam in his c5 corvette, drives to a performance shop and gets dyno tuned would be called a canned tune? I don't think so.

Since I don't have HPTUNERS, yet I am HPTUNERS tuned.... I have a canned tune?
Damn I'm loving my CANNED TUNE then!
Really,
the only difference is the (wait time & location of the tune being created). Obviously your going to be able to tune on the fly if your own HPTUNERS. The only difference is trifecta isn't exactly local to every individual 2.2 owner, and is offering a custom tune specifically to your vehicle which can be changed repeatedly due to it being tangible.
Trifecta has figured out how to specifically tune individual 2.2 owner's vehicles. Unfortunately it's not available at the vehicle owners fingertips.
Canned tune...? I think not!
BTW you have my fav. blue cobalt lol...

My neighbor's Lancer GTS gained 40whp from a Jet Chip. He couldn't beat my 2.4, but it was totally there, an eBay ad said so.
I wouldn't call Trifecta a canned tune though, it's specific to your car.

Who cares what it's called. Damn why are people getting all butt hurt because some people on the interwebs call the tune your getting a canned tune. All that matters are the results from the "tune"

it might not be a caned tune, but its ghetto as ****!
log the car, not know if or what issues your having during that pull, send in the data, wait for a return e-mail with tune, flash car, repeat.
sticking your foot into it over and over again until things seem "ok" and just because your AFR's are ok, doesn't mean every thing else is!
why not get or provide a pocket logger to at least see the knock thats gonna pop the motor, or the way to high IDC's, ect....
hell why not sell a a whole package (a la HPT) that would let you all do your own tuning?
