So i got all my header d/p exhaust... intake lowerin springs... whatever. on and on

So she tells her pop that i got an Exhaust, and he basically says. o he didnt do anything to his car and whatever. SO now, everytime she gets in "she is like. my Pop grandpa said u cant get this car to HAVE ANY PERFORMANCE unless you have a turbo...

haha. i mean, i admit i know it aint nothing fast. but with the exhaust and all that junk u can mask it and make soo much more drivable. very nice. but at a buzz kill.

I need to be able to press on the gas and shut her mouth. I thought the exhaust would block her out but she just talks louder. haha

so TurbO PEOPLE- Give off how its been working for you.

and what exactly does fuel injectors do? should it be something to look into. or cams. i dont even know what a cam is.

I'll be brutally honest with you. You need to do your own research. If you try to rely on a forum for all of your info, you won't go very far. Its not that hard to do a google search.

LoL.. My cousin is trying to talk **** on my newly bought Cobalt... I really could care less..

People get these cars and put turbos on them and SC them.. All that stuff.. And i guess its just something to do its a hobby.. I personally will do nothing other than the intake/exhaust just because i like to hear my car...

People that want fast cars don't want cobalts... Sure there are people with 12/13 seconds DD's.. But in this decade thats standard anymore not really fast.. If i want a fast car i will go out and buy a V8 .. something that comes fast and only gets faster...

Seriously you can get 13 second stock camaros/trans ams now a days for 6-8 k and some people spend more or close to that in performance parts/repairs for breaking nonperformance parts...

But thats just my opinion.. for someone to look at my car and say its not fast cause its not turbo is something to laugh at...

mine hates the ride of the low profile tires, springs, and vibes from solid tranny mounts.

personally i dont care.... cuz the car will be around longer than her

 

yup my gf likes to bash my car a little here and there... and she doesnt like my magna flo either... lol.. "its to loud!" but she thinks my car is sexy so its ok.. lol

 

you need a lot more research before you can even think about going turbo. in the meantime, get some used SS/SC injectors, 2.4 intake manifold and throttle body, along with a tune from Trifecta/Clear Image Automotive and the car will be respectable for what it is

 

Quite frankly my car is the root of every fight me and my girl have ever had! she loves the car and all that jazz but hates the fact that i've dumped $2500+ into it and not into an engagement ring for her...

but thats the extent of that..... she'll really be pissed when i do the turbo conversion from hahn :P hehe! i just might be single after that!

but back on subject no my girl loves my car....

HAHA.. who here hasnt dumped about that much into their car.. But this car def changed relationships as far as money goes.. like o. i cant come see u (gas is too high) when in reality ur just saving up for a part.. try and make her pay for more **** or drive to see u. a nice dinner-two fill ups at the pump-more worthless and unnecassary dinners= money that coulda been spent on PERFORMANCE

 

my gf drives a cobalt LT, so...lol

only part she doesn't like about my car is the fact that it's a 5spd...and she can't drive it.

loves the heated leather, loves the color, loves the sunroof, loves the exhaust note (2.4 with full GMPP), and even loves the stock 7-speaker pioneer. she loved my mustangs too.

I don't think he was telling you to research the performance modifications you want do to on google, but you need to learn the basic/more advanced workings of an engine before you think about doing internal work. As in, learn what cams are/do. Good luck. Check out http://en.wikipedia.org/ . You can literally find ANYTHING on there.

Sure it may be a cobalt, an econo car. But hey, you could have gone the route of an 80's-90's single cab pick-up, an old cougar, a celica, or a 90's integra. Don't let anybody bash your car, I have a 2.2l also but I look at myself as a kid in college and need to save as much money as possible. I do not want to spend it on a car that will guzzle up the gas to pick up a girl that will not be around in 5 years.
