My second guess is 2 guesses.

Either the FE5 rear axle or the LNF brakes.

Yup its the upper jacket of a Z-body(mali/G6) tilt/telescopic column.

I want telescopic steering!

If I can find or make a .020" thick sleeve with an iside diamter of about 1.685" I can make it work. Simply take off the Cobalt column upper jacket and tilt mechanism, slide my sleeve onto the cobalt lower column and then slide the Zbody upper column. BAM tilt/tele in a Balt.

Tilt / Telescopic is still pretty self-explanitory.

I'm guessing you've never seen a telescoping steering wheel? Instead of just tilting, it will also pull out and in so you can get it closer or further from the dash.

OK, thanks. It was definitely an out of the blue question.

In your knowledge, has anyone been able to do this? Like most tall guys, I find the steering wheel is too far away. I would like to get it closer via some sort of modification, but don't want to sacrifice the stock steering wheel nor the airbags.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide
