A ton of people that like to "Hypermile" use 0 weight. There is like no friction, I dont know the cons to it or how long it lasts but people use it all over.

The only benefit I can see is that the viscosity is 0 so that means that it will flow to the top of the motor quicker on cold starts. Then once it warms up to operating temp. the oil stays at a 30 weight. The W means that it is a winter grade oil. I do not see how that will increase your MPG unless they have added a better friction additive to the oil.

I doubt that any oil can increase mpg's noticeably but if it lasts longer than the regular mobil one im interested...and if its safe for the lsj

It would be safe to use. We require 5W30 from the factory. So if you use this oil it will flow faster on cold starts because of the 0 viscosity but just like the 5W30 once the 0W30 reaches operating temp it stays at a 30 weight. Trust me I deal with this all day long. I am a Petroleum engineer and if you want more info check out the API (American Petroleum Institute) website.

Cheers

im putting some in this weekend, if you look at the chart on the jug it calculates the yearly fuel savings which isnt that much but every little bit helps when fill ups are going for 45 dollars a tank. im still trying to figure out what oil filter to use on the car looks like parts stores around here dont carry the mobil 1 extended performance oil filter that im looking for. any suggestions?

I used Mobil 1 0w30 in the winter in my pickup in NH when I lived there. Like it was said, the 'w' after the first number indicates a winter grade oil. When the temp is above 32 degrees F the first number doesn't even come into play so in effect, unless it's cold out it would just be a 30 weight oil. You could run 100w30 and it wouldn't matter unless the temp got below 32F. Your best bet in the summer would just be to run a single viscosity 30 weight racing oil. Other than that, I never noticed a significant increase in mileage between 0w30 and 5w30 but that is probably because cars just tend to get worse mileage in the colder weather due to the super dense air and extended warm up times.

I use plain old Wally world brand full synthetic Supertech. The green stuff is supposed to have a lot of additives in it to lubricate the piston as it slides on the cylinder walls, I think its molybdenum. Ok, for cars but a big no no for motorcycles. I've used the Supertech full synthetic in my 4.2L jaguar for over 75k miles as well as my little brother's 2000 Lightning without issues. I do go out of my way for good filters though. I like Purolator but they're hard to find around here.

I go with the ac delco filter aswell. I have herd allot of good things about them over the fram. My first oil change I put a fram in and by the end of it, it just didn't look like it held up aswell as the ac delco did. I just ordered mine in bulk from crate engine depot, they have them cheaper than any where else I have seen. They ship fast to.

ok put in the mobil 1 0w-30 and the puralator pure one over the weekend. this was the 1st oil change for the car. not sure if my gas mileage has improved yet, but the car is running super, feels like its running better than when it was new, also feels like it has a little more power and is just running smooth.
