Anyone's engine ever die after hitting a bump? UPDATE DAMN THAT WAS A HECK OF A BUMP
I was driving thru some construction on the interstate today and nailed a bump at the start of a bridge. Worst bump I've ever hit I believe. LOL. Anyways when I hit it the engine just died. WTF. Never had anything like that happen before. It started right back up while I was still coasting and I got off the exit cause I figured I busted a tire at least, but luckily no damage.

lol mine has done this twice in the past few months. The second time it happened I noticed my key was in the off position. So, I figured it was the weight of my keychain + other keys that pulled it down into off.
same thing happened to me when i had the balt at least 3 times with nasty pot hole bumps
UPDATE...........a few nights ago I noticed I had a squeak coming from the drivers side rear, yesterday I got under the car to have a look and saw something I couldn't believe. My rear Eibach Sportline literally broke in half around a quarter way up. Guess I will see how good their million mile warranty actually is.
Yes, i had this happen to me going to Pechanga Casino (shitty road)... it was during construction too almost ended up in a big accident... engine dead means no power steering too! i hope it's not a safety feature... kinda like the engine power reduces that could be called a "safety feature" but that can get you into an accident as well... safety feature for the car but not the driver or others around you IMO...

For me living in NYC this is expected. It happened a couple weeks ago. Overall it's probably happened 4 or 5 times. The last time my car almost came cheek to cheek with a concrete divider after the car died and the steering locked up. Scary stuff.
Happened to me when I had my 2005 mustang, I swerved to miss an idiot who pulled out in front of me and I nailed a Median, fuel was shut off and there was a fuel reset switch next to the brake pedal, dont know were it is on the cobalts though.
I've seen something similar happen to several Corvettes at Auto-Xs when taking tight turns. They have a lateral G meter that when it detects a sudden high lateral G, the car thinks it hit something and is crashing, shuts off fuel, and the car dies on the course. The ECU has to be reset with a special tool in their case if I remember right.

Ouch, that reminds me of one my friends ( technically his dads) BMW convertible... come to find out if you take a turn really quick and the car thinks you may flip it releases two HUGE metal poles so you don't get crushed... (deploy able roll bar) he was never allowed to drive the car again... but the Porsche was allowed... richers!
