Kid at my school thinks his 2001 audi a4 is the **** and keeps asking me to race. He doesn't know diddly squat about cars, (I asked him if he was turbocharged and he said: "no, but I just had a new liquid to air intercooler put in")

I'm running whats in my sig (hopefully above 250hp): never dynoed

I'm 99% positive the audi is stock, if anything it would be an intake.
EDIT: He's completely stock.

He either completely underestimates my Cobalt or is going to throw on nitrous before the race and blow his engine .

I'm going to try and borrow my friends GoPro and record it for your guys entertainment.

One last thing, I'm not sure if he's AWD, but if he is, will he be able to beat me from a dig? I know i'll slaughter from a roll, but I'm worried that might be why he's so confident.

No, most likely after he takes u from a roll (if he does) , he will not race u again and leave it like that and doing the typical hondaboy thing.

So he has a 2.8 since its not turbo and its a N/A. If he said liquid to air intercooler then maybe a supercharged 2.8. I think he has a 30 valve. Not sure. Those motors were only good for a supercharger

 

according to this handy thing called wikipedia.. the A4 2.8N/A in 2001 only made 190Hp/207ish Tq. Its heavier than you and has less HP stock for stock. Oh and I doubt its blown, ask to see the engine.

You're modded, I say you'll pull a buss length on him. But then again, you two really should just have a go, talking about it here wont solve anything.. just go with confidence knowing you'll walk him lol

 

Oh I know its stock for sure, I called my friend who's brother is a mechanic and he did an oil change on it and he said the engine hasn't been touched. No turbo, no supercharger, nothing.

I never really told all of the story, my grandparents left for Florida for all of winter, and they let me drive their handicap plated mini-van as long as I paid for the gas and kept it clean. This is the last week I'm driving the van and today the Audi owner saw me getting in the van and came over. He asked if I wanted to race and I said hell yeah. He then laughed to himself and walked away.

I wonder if he wanted to race the van?

The 2.8 was also offered in FWD, so there's not even a guarantee that this dude will be able to launch.

Ive raced a 2002 Audi A4 Turbo 1.8 I believe. It was slow as fk.

I was on my way home from work tonight and headed out of the city into country roads and some guy in a v6 Lincoln started speeding way up from 30mph (the speed limit) so I dropped into 2nd and ripped passed him. He tried keeping up but I think his car was so heavy there wasn't much he could do. lol.

 

I do that to prius' all the time. For some reason they think their faster than me haha

I had a Prius try to out-accelerate my POS 4 cyl Tacoma, and I actually held them off by a half-car (or truck, I suppose). I didn't realize they were that slow! I can't imagine why every owner of one I come across always wants to try to outrun everybody!

 

For some reason SS N/A's get made fun of on this forum.. but seriously, they're quicker than a lot of other general cars out there. I've beaten cars in my 2.4 that I would've NEVER thought would happen in mine.

 

I think the ss/na catch **** because its slower then a civic si or anything around that power level. I always felt like the 2.4 was kinda incomplete car, its missing the front n back lip and no boost but it does leave u the option sc or tc with more displacement.

 

True, but at 171 hp with just a bit of mods to the intake, exhaust, getting it chipped and/or tune, you can be pushing more horse than the s/c at 205.

 

My friend has a A6 with the 2.8 AWD, my 2.2 pulls on it (only have SRI and 2.4IM) you should have no issue. The A6 is def heavier than the A4, but you should still have no issue

 

My buddy has an a4 2.0T and I can beat him. Js. I'm stock

same here ive beaten an 8th gen si, 2.0t gti, a few other civic harches,a 6 cyl mustang. a modified 2.4 definately is not a joke of a car, but at the same time is not nearly as powerful as a TC or modified SC.
