They Have a Remote Start one:Python 571XP or Python 1400XP
They Have a Remote Start w/ Security System: Python 871XP or Python 1600XP
FWI if you want to get a Viper system(it's the same thing made by the same company but might one might be cheaper then the other)
I personally have the Python 871XP and i love it. don't know if you know much about this stuff... but i would recommend a 2-way unit(whether you decide to get a remote start or a remote start with security system) the 2-way will send a signal back to the key chain reciever and let you know the option you picked was recieved to the car(it will light up and make a sound)
If you have any questions please feel free to PM me.
And if you need help when you get it to install it(and you live or are willing to drive to jersey) I know somoene who will install it for a good price.

they new cobalts are going to come with an optional push start engine... so im sure it will be remote activated... see if theres a gm part for it, then have the dealer install it. its going to cost more, but u get it under warranty
Take it from someone who has been doing this for years as a living. Directed Electronics and Code Alarm are on top of the game right now for security and remote start systems. But don't buy that bullshit DesignTech, Python, AutoPage, AstroStart. None of that garbage. If you want the best of the best you go with two-way Viper, Code Alarm, or the Clifford Matrix systems. As far as extra parts you will need: You will need an immobilizer bypass for your Passlock II system (Directed P#556L) and a resistance learning module (Directed P#456L) or relay setup with resistors for your one wire door lock system. If you were close to me I'd say bring the car over and let a professional do the instal. NEVER trust a place like Best Buy do the installation. They have limited experience, retail only training, and aren't even allowed to be creative. If you listen to any of these posts, please make it this one. I hate when people pull in with some garbage remote start/alarm system that has failed or that is improperly working and ask me to fix it. I have to charge them out the ass for it and it is usually a pain in the ass because it was improperly installed to begin with.
As far as extra parts, it's no more than $100. So they are pulling your leg.

Viper. If you are just looking for remote start i would get a decent one...i cant remember the model off my head..take a trip to best buy. they put it in for free. you need that by pass module to bypass the ignition codes because of the chip in the key. our car is really hard to do. the reason why is due to the door locks and some other wiriing. i was talkin to a installer at best buy cuz i wanna put one in my car too. yeah go with Viper. also directed electronics who is a big manufactrer of the by pass modules also manufacturs viper. go viper.

It's just like you saying that the Ion redline is "bullshit" and Cobalt SS is the "best of the best"... Built on the same line...with same drive train.... in the same plant!
Next time give out facts about the products before you shoot it down... tell him the specs of the unit and then use that info to help him make a decision...
Again, I don't mean to offend anyone... Just my $0.02
im not taking sides but python is same as viper pretty much and code alarm seems to not always work to me the best bang for buck is prestige alarm they run about 300 in stores plus install and they work great
if your like me you will run into an issue with the security system on the cobalt. on my LT sedan it was making the security light freak out and would shut the car off because of the draw of juice it does at random when your driving or sitting.
I am unsure what unit I bought but I was told it was the best and it was installed by a professional shop that does nothing but car audio and alarms/starters. I paid about $280 of coin to get a great one. It works for almost a 1 1/2 mile range. It's sick!

For what you're looking for, no. Read my above post and DON'T have Best Buy install it. There's a reason that places like us charge for installations and they don't. It's because ours, with MECP certified (not Best Buy certified) professionals, are worth paying for. Find a local shop to do the work. Expect to pay about $350 for a decent remote start system on that car.
i found a starteer for $150.. but its gonna cost $140 more to install.. i dont want a $500 starter.. i dont need to turn the windshield wipers and cycle the radio while im inside .. i just want to be able to start the car so A/C or heat can come on before i get to the car

Okay so I was planning on getting a Code Alarm 2 Way alarm /remote start and was just searching to see what I need to know about this stuff since I never had an alarm or starter on my car. Well I saw this bypass thing and was just wondering if this is what I'm looking for: http://www.autoalarmpro.com/inc/sdetail/213 or if there's something else? Props...
