basic maintenance at 60k..??

Hey guys,

So, I think there's alot of people in my boat right now who have got some miles on their car, and do the basics, but don't really get into the nitty gritty of everything they need to do to their cars. I change my oil when I need to, make sure I've got a clean air filter, I change my plugs before I need to, I use synthetic oil, I always use 93, etc. But there's some things that you just kinda forget over time. Such as the fuel filter.

My question is, around the 50k/60k mark, what kinda stuff should've been replaced? I don't have all of my work bills to know exactly what's been done, but I'll have an idea if something did in my head. I am not sure on the fuel filter, so I'm gonna do it this week. Anything else you'd suggest?

I put this in the general section because this could apply to any model, not just a 2.4. Although the s/c or t/c might have a few more variations to the list..

I ask because I'm driving down to the beach next week and want to make sure the car is running 100%..

Thanks!!

definitely clean/replace: cabin filter, air filter, tb

optionally: trans fluid flush, brake fluid flush, coolant flush

check your brakes, you might be getting close.

air filter is good
tb is cleaned often
tranny fluid was done at 50k
brakes are basically new

However, I suppose I should look into the cabin filter, brake fluid and coolant..

Where is the cabin filter and how much is it? Easy to swap? What does it to exactly? Just keep your vents working well?

Cabin air filter is like $15 at PepBoys, AutoZone, etc. It's behind the glove box, takes about 2 minutes to swap it out. There's 3 little clips that hold the filter in. Just pull the old one out, pop the new one in. Clip it back closed, push the glove box back onto the "rails" and you're good to go.

haha mine was pretty clean so I didn't notice much of a difference. But if it's dirty I'm sure it'd help. And hell, just throw a few mints on there and then it'll be really f'ing fresh.

Just did mine ago and it was pretty much black (had to have been the first time it's been changed). Definitely noticed a big difference. It doesn't keep the car smelling fresh so much as it prevents it from smelling like ass, but it's definitely worth keeping up on if you use your vent/heat/AC at all.
