Best price for a low profile Oil Filter Socket ( 32mm / 1.25")

Advance Auto parts (www.partsamerica.com) sells the low profile Oil Filter socket for Ecotec engines for $7.18. Manufacturers part number 14700, made by Lisle Corporation.

Its lightweight, made of aluminum, I think. LIfetime warranty...but not much could go wrong with it. Six point hex pattern. Low profile makes it easier to manuver than a standard 32mm or 1.25" twelve point socket.

If you order $50 worth of stuff, shipping is free. I added a 10" socket extension, and a locking gas cap, an oil filter, and a tire pressure gauge...total was $50.16.

Advance Auto parts also has a 2 for 1 sale on Penzoil synthetic (not a blend) so its a bit less than $3 a quart if you buy an even number of quarts right now. I think thats good til the 27th of Jan, but I am not sure. Equivalent to Mobile 1, meets that GM oil spec for Cobalt SS/SC's. They can't ship that however...you have to go to a local store to pick it up.

Ehh I use mine a lot, and I mean A LOT. So I went with Snap on. It's a socket designed for our oil filters, or the ecotec filters anyway. I know it's a waste of money, but its quality. I think it was like 35?

That's the one I got. Yes its aluminum. I paid a little more since I got it on Ebay and had to pay shipping.

I've seen a few oil filter caps that look like people tried to chew them off and I'm assuming this is from trying to use pliers or vise grips on them. Just get the socket already!

The Snap-On one is also made by the exact same people as the autozone one. However I have no room to talk because i bought the one of the Snap On truck at work. And I do way more ecotec oil changes then most of you.

Its nice being able to go to the truck and get it warrantied and not have to wait around for someone else to mail me one!

Shipping (for me) was very fast. I ordered this stuff on the 6th, and received it on the 10th, and that was with the "free" shipping.

Glad this info was of use to some...I too almost bought the "ebay" oil removal socket, until I found this.
