The best price on a new 2006 Cobalt SS/SC ever? Did your price beat this?

Ok. I've hunted and hunted for the best deal on a Cobalt SS/SC. I think I've acheived that...a deal so good I had to buy the car. Tell me if anyone can beat this....

The deal was on a new (not used) 2006 SS/SC with the performance package (the LSD and Recaro's), the side impact airbags, sunroof, and XM radio (that's it).

The car had 340 miles on it.

$16988 including destination charge.

Extra fees were $650 in "doc" fees, and required taxes for my county.

From that, I took off another $2500 with a GM credit card rebate.

By the way, if you want one, they have a single silver one left....

addition...I've posted the ad from their website I held them to in the gallery section, and added it to this topic below. Its still on their site as of this moment in the "specials" section, but I am sure it won't stay there.

So you paid around 14K for that vehicle? Are you serious? You cant even get a base model for that much around here! If your telling the truth then thats a steal. Somebody is losing money!

Wow, that's about 10g cheaper than the sticker price should be for that model with those options.

I got mine last year and paid about $26000 Canadian for it, plus taxes and financing of course.

Yes...lots of money lost by the dealer on this one. Sat on their lot for 14 months becaused they added a $2700 "market adjustment" to the car...and no one bought it. Finally, with 2006 drawing to a close, they had to dump it.

Since it is possible no one will believe this, I will post their ad...(that was very tricky making them honor, BTW)

Technically that is used. It was probably used by the salesmen, so make sure you check it over fairly well for abuse. From my calculations, you would be getting it for around 15K or so, which would be a pretty damn good deal.

Ok...if anyone uses this to buy their last remaining silver 2006, please let me know...They *might* honor the pricing even though it says ends Dec 31st. And there is stuff about the remaining one you want to know...

(I think I get a $100 "referral fee" if mentioned by name...but with the price I got, I don't know if they will pay me)

BTW after my deal, one of the employees on the lot started to think they should get the other one.

Oh, and 1gmfanatik, its not a used car...it was just on their lot since November of 2005 (I have the dealer stock printout). So, the 340 miles was all (probably brutal) "test drive" miles. The average fuel economy readout on the DIC had never been reset, and listed just under 16mpg. So you know it probably was driven pretty aggressively. But for this price, I can live with the 340 miles.

One trip on the highway after reseting the mpg readout, and I got the average mileage to 33mpg. That won't last.

The car is most certainly not used...I could not use my GM credit card rebate if it were considered such.

True... Demos and "Program" cars are ineligable for the GM card discount.

By the way, did you finance it? What interest rate, and what are the payments (and how long)?

Probably worse than that. I think it was a lot of shifting, hard accelleration around the back roads surrounding the dealership. Thats why the average miles per gallon DIC screen said roughly 15.8 mpg average.

Car runs great though, and looks great. And I've got the full, regular warranty to fall back on if necessary.

it also gets low if the car is running and not moving... i'm sure that has something to do with it too.... now that it's cold i was starting to freak out because i was getting like 18mpg or some ****, and i don't really drive like an idiot... i realized it was from leaving it running to warm up... could be the same here...

but, in all likely hood, it was abused on test drives!

I thought I had a good deal I got mine for $19,500 after I used my $1,000 in GM card earnings. I had them install the Stage 1 Kit and Extruded Honed Exhaust Manifold for no extra charge since my father and I were both getting new cars at the same time. The lease payments on my car are $268.87 a month for 36 months. I didn't want to buy it. The car is nice but in 2 more years I am getting the Silverado I always wanted.
As for my fathers car he bought a 05 Cadillac STS they had on the lot. You can't beat a year end sale he got a $55,000 car for $46,500. I think he had the better deal.

But Good luck with it.

Excellent!

The only reason I was asking, is it seems a lot of time in these threads, people boast of great prices, but then when they post their payments being xxx dollars and xx months, there's 2-3 thousand in interest they haven't mentioned in the original price. Happens all the time.

Yeah the mileage on my DIC has dropped a lot here in the winter since when I start the car I let it warm up until the coolant temp says 100 degrees - and that takes a few minutes when starting out at 15 degrees or so. The whole time its sitting there idleing its getting exactly zero MPG, and that gets averaged in with everything else to give an overall lower-than-normal number.

I went to Fulton Chevrolet in Middletown, NY.

It's a Cadillac and Chevrolet Dealership. They are very nice up their I brought my car in for service a few times no questions asked. They treat you with respect. That's why I went so far out of the way. Last time i was their they had 4 SS/SC on the lot. 2 Red, 1 Black, and 1 Blue. If they don't have it they will find it for you.

Oh yeah Saunders Grad 1999.
I live right down the street form the school.

23000 canadian but no LSD and XM and stuff. Great deal. I still paid like 20,000 or less US when you consider exchange from CDN to US at the time. I am happy. but sweet Jesus that is a great deal.

Thats the pizza delivery boy.

I would never park my **** in front of that place.

He has the same ride as me but with some exterior mods.
Debadged and Blacked out the Taillights and the inside of the headlights are painted black.

I kept mine stock on the outside other than removing the badges off the trunk lid because they looked stupid. I keep my mods under the hood where they count.
