Best way to remove headlights?

Hey guys and ladies, I am going to changing my headlights soon and i just wanted to know what is the easiest way to remove the headlight unit. I have already removed the two top bolts but it only comes out so far and I can't get my hand behind it to remove the bulb. Is there anything else i should loosen first. I tried pulling the headlight out further but i am afraid i may scratch up the paint around the headlight.

I also tried searching through the how to section but i couldn't find anything. If there are directions already out there please let me know.

Your owner's manual has a great explanation. You need to take out the clips holding the bumper on the top, and then pull the headlights with one hand and pull the bumper with the other.

its a little difficult to get out... and will take some wabble and "come one *******" Also remove some of the plastic fasteners holding the grill this will help you get them out a little easier to.

Also don't do this when it's cold outside!

You will need to pull the fascia out of the way so the warmer the better.

And be very careful not to slide the headlight assembly on the fascia as you pull it out or put it back in. It will scratch the paint.

X1,000,000!!!!
Not my *******. Pullled mine out in 38degree weather at night

Undo the three fasteners closest to the headlight assembly on the front fascia (the fascia is the plastic insert in front of the radiator with the chevy emblem on it, no one bothers to mention that, just in case you didn't know. I had no clue what a fascia was until I ripped mine out) They have a weird plug type design. It looks like a little plastic nipple. You can't just remove the entire fastener, you have to pull the center nipple part Up. You'll know you did it right because then it will look like a hard nipple, sticking out about a quarter inch from the areola. (I have to relate everything to sex to understand it, because that's the only thing I really care about) Once that center cap is pulled up, you can remove the fastener.
Unbolt the two bolts that are holding the assembly in. Then comes the fun part. You'll have to play the "Come on you bitch!" game with it, wiggling it side to side, until you are able to pull the outside corner outside the bumper, then you can slide it out. Reassembly is strangely easier to pull off.

Luckily i didn't have to worry about the cold. It was about 65F or so when i took it out. There really wasn't a whole lot of wiggling once i got the fasteners out and the fascia pulled forward. It was 100X easier then i thought it was gonna be before you all helped me.

And i really like those fasteners, they are so much better then those old ones that 99% of the time after removing them, you would need to go buy new ones.
