Between Springs..

Hey guys..

Quick question about lowering springs..

I'm tossing up getting a set of lowering springs.. I've got an SS 2.4 coupe. It's got 42k on it. The stock suspension is still fine. But in spring I'm planning on buying the Tokico struts for all 4 corners (when they come out). Then you'll obviously need springs too.. I've heard great things about Eibach springs, but also about the Tenzo-R ones as well.. My friend has a set of Tenzo's on his LS and he loves them. They look great too.. I know lowering springs on stock struts will make them blow quicker.. How long does this usually take? Being that I have 42k on it, I don't know if it's worth it putting the springs on now, then the struts when the FE3 ones go, or just do it all in the spring.. The reason I'm asking is because I'm putting on a new set of P6's as well, so I'll be getting an alignment, finally. So I figured I'd knock off 2 things.. So basically, 1: Are the Eibachs REALLY worth the extra cost over the Tenzo's, and 2: should I do the springs now then the struts later, and 3: how long would the stock struts last with lowering springs with 42k already on them??

Thanks!!!

I've had my SSC's for 18k miles on stock struts and no problems, but any little bump I drive slow. I need to get some aftermarket struts. I put my springs on at 20K miles and I'm at 38K miles. And tell me more about these struts your getting.

The stock struts hold up very well, you can also do Konis (they are the BEST)

The stock strut and Eibach Sportlines work well together...

22,000 miles on FE1 struts (their weaker than the FE3!) with sportlines, no problems here.

dont get the pro kit, get the sportlines. or you could always get coilovers, im gonna go with the B & Gs from Gravana (one day.....)

What would be the problem with pro-kit springs? Just wondering as the sportlines look good but I like the sound of the pro-kit's numbers more.

people are never happy with the pro-kit. it still makes the cobalt sit too high.

sportlines make these cars sit perfect.

I know the Koni Yellows are best, but I guess you gotta modify them(?), and they're also VERY expensive.. Same for the coil-overs.. Very nice, but very expensive.. I don't need something ridiculous, and I'm on a limited budget.. So the Tokico's plus the ______ springs will be just fine for me.. Now I just need to figure out which ones are for me..

Koni's you have to cut your stock struts open and use some of the stock pieces from the front.

How To: Koni Struts
