Bought an SS/SC today

I bought a black SS/SC with red inserts today from Ganley in Cleveland. I didn't plan on buying, but really liked the black vs. the red that I ordered from my dealer.

A couple of interesting things - they had the car priced $2,400 over sticker, calling it "adjuted market value". They actually asked me how much over sticker I was willing to pay!

Also, they said that they weren't accepting GM employee discounts from customers for the car, not even their own employees! I wonder if others will run into this issue. They weren't willing to deal on the car either, since this was one of the first delivered.

The car is fantastic - if I had a digital camera I would post pics. It broke traction in 3 gears without even pushing it hard, and was up to 60 before I even noticed.

I hope everyone sees theirs soon - it is well worth the wait!

You should have said f*ck you $0 over sticker is what I'll pay. Sorry but dealers are scumbags, no way I'd pay over sticker...there's always other dealers waiting.

And till I see pics, I'm calling BS. I hope I'm wrong though...

Not a big surprise, GM dealers do this to every car. Then they wonder why they cant sell any cars. Hopefully they wont continue to once they start to get around more.

You have every right to be skeptical - these cars have taken forever to get to the dealers.

I ended up paying sticker - I felt like trash for doing it, but I honestly don't think too many dealers will be willing to deal on these until they have 5 or so in the lot.

I'll try to find someone with a camera to get some pics posted.

Appreciate it.

If infact you are telling the truth. Tell us about your driving impressions about the car and anything else you can.

Did you get the G85 package?

Nice post. Glad to hear you didn't let the dealer rip you off. Who exactly do they think they are anyways?? I mean its one thing to charge sticker price, since the car is brand new and its in demand - but its a whole nother thing to price the car for $2400 over sticker price!! Thats scumbag activity right there, and then dealerships wonder why they have a bad name...

I think its also wrong to not honor the GM employee discount. A discount is a discount, how can they just decide that they won't honor it just because they want to maximize profit?? Sounds like BS to me, but I suppose that as long as you ended up paying a fair price that is what matters.

Any idea when you will be picking the car up? And please take pics too, you might be the first person on the site to own a Cobalt SS S/C!!

The car is in my garage. It doesn't have the G85 package ( I wish, but I think you won't see too many of them with this package anytime soon that are dealer allocation).

I took it pretty easy on the way home with all the crap all over the roads up here, but I was very impressed with the torque and handling of the car. I drive an 02 Z-24, and this is definitely a big step up in performance and quality (even the dash!) over the Cavalier.

If they try doing anything like that on me, I'm going to say "Sorry this is what you told me, and thats what I'm going to pay, or I'm going some where else."

It's good you got it at sticker but as with everyone else, I too am skeptical. Pose in front of it if you could. Take a pic of it in your garage and never mind. I'll give you benefit of the doubt.

Did LSD come standard? Or is that for next year?

BTW, what is the G85 package?

All Cobalt SS S/C's come from the factory with Mobil 1 SuperSyn in the engine, it even says Mobil 1 right on the oil cap

I don't want to take any credit, but I told RED SS where that one was.
