Breaking in new cat

I was wondering what are the ramifications of having a new catalytic converter. I just recently had my downpipe replaced, and was wondering how long it will take for it to be broken in. Also, is there any powerloss untill the cat is broken in? I was wondering if something had to burn off at first before the downpipe will have maximum air flow. And will the exhaust sound very different after the cat is broken in?

Thanks for any help!

Oh believe me, i'm drivin it lol. I was just wondering if there is a powerloss since the cat needs to be broken in. Especially since I can smell something being burned off from the downpipe. I thought maybe until the cat burns in right, that there would be less airflow through the downpipe..

If you pet it and feed it well, it should only take a few days to adjust its new living conditions. It may take longer than that to litter train it though. It may occasionally puke all over the floor too, which you'll find in the morning by stepping in it on your way to the bathroom.

My downpipe just burned and smoked like hell for about 10 minutes, but that was it!
