C6 as good as an AMG?
C6 as good as an AMG?
Well my dad got a C6...I'm stoked as **** to drive it. I don't know how fast it's going to be. The fastest thing I've driven is a SL65 AMG (604 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque)
But it's a little heavy for a roadster. Vetts are super light. Online it was saying it's comparable to a ZR1. I don't know it that's true. What do you guys think? V12 twin turbo is pretty ******* fast. They say there is no replacement for displacement.

And an sl65amg is above and beyond better. Your dad traded down unless the a mg got totalled. Its like going from a vette to a balt. I'd say the better question is why did he switch from a 200k car to a 45k one?
Different class of car. The 65 benzes are highway monsters, but they are a cruiser with 700hp, not a serious sports car. I'd take the benz over the vette if money wasn't a factor, but the reality is you could buy a ZR1 and a regular V6 benz for the price of the 65.
I don't think the Benz was his dads previous car, he just mentioned that it was the fastest car he's driven.
The AMG will be fast and ride smooth. The Vette should be just as fast but have much better handling. Regular C6's are 430 hp, Z06's are 505 hp, and ZR1's are 630 hp. I think both cars (reg C6 and AMG SL65) do 0 - 60 in 4.2 secs.

you cant beat the luxury of the benz tho. i was driving my friends the other day (not sure what series) but it has the AMG rims and i got to race a 5.7 GTO. but the seats in the benz inflate and hug you around turns, it was awesome
Yeah those engines are badly limited from the factory, a higher boost tune can gain 150+ hp and 300lb-ft, but the transmission is only rated for 738 so that's where they set them from the start.
The engine is capable of around 1000hp in stock form with slightly larger turbos IIRC, there was a show that went through it back when they were new. MB did dyno testing of the engines into the 4 digits and they held it just fine, but they had no drivetrain to support it so they de-tuned them rather than design a special transmission just for that engine.
Even the new 7 speed can't take the power, thats why the 65 cars all use the 5 speed, higher torque rating. I've driven a CL65, the car is an animal for sure even in stock form.
