its like a condom for the filter... it jsut pervents water from getting into the filter...

FYI The GMPP air intake for the Solstice has a cover for the filter that says "GMPP" on it. However, it is down in the nose of the Solstice and is prone to getting water infiltration much like the fenderwells for our cars do. It is probably not a bad idea to do if you live in an area that is prone to flooding or heavy rainfall.

I had a k&n filter/drycharger on my injen for my 2.4L and when I had the cover on and when it rained the water would run down the tubing and collect in the cover like a water trap....when I took it off to clean the bag/filter, the bag was full of water and the bottom half of the filter was white....so I've since taken off the cover and cleaned and re-oiled the filter I have had no problems with water since,If it rains alot I just take it off and re-0il it to be safe.
