Hey guys, whats up? I am new to cobaltss.net and also in the market for buying one brand new when I return to the states. I was just wondering what the difference is for cars with the California emissions standard?

 

secondary air injection, and a second cat converter for the LS/LT. LSJ/LNF are unchanged.

 

basicly everything..cali is the hitler state

 

ooo...my mistake. i thought you meant whats different on the car from the factory. well...emissions tests are required every 2 years to get your registration, unless your car is less than 4 years old. also....effectively like half the mods here are illegal. Tunes for the most part are illegal, downpipe swapping is illegal, PCV modification is illegal, power adders are illegal (due to needing a retune)exhausts over (90dB?) are illegal, etc.
Most of this applies to all states, but california is the **** state when it comes to inspections since theyre mandatory every 2 years to remain street legal

 

illegal smoggin , mexico plates or nevada plates ^_^

 

or an extra $50-$100 at a shady smog checker

 

Ya hunter, I did mean the differences between a Cali car and a non-Cali car. So your saying the SS is the same car no matter if it has California emissions package or not?

 

im pretty positive this is the case. I havent heard of any LSJs or LNFs with extra cat converters or SAI, so i believe theyre the exact same

you can do that anywhere. Thats what most of my friends do here in LA

 

I took off muffler and mid piece not cat and put on intake probably way over 90db will probably have to smog soon 2004. Anyone know any shops in san jose that hook it up?

 

Flash it and be done with it...Unless you in Cali or New York or a state/county that adopted Cali emissions
