No, it either comes like that from the factory or thats it. They associate the options with the VIN number for insurance purposes.

When i bought my car the salesman actually told me that the cobalt was the safest car in its class when equipped with the side impact airbags.

Yeah, the side airbags should help a lot during a crash. I don't have them though.

Side curtain

these airbags are life savers.
I hAve a Silver SS/SC with the side curtains.
these air bags are for side impact.
ever seen a crash dummy smoke his head against the glass in a side impact.
if you have side impact curtains your head will have a better chance of not being goo.

get the car and don't worry about side air bags. Its still safe without them, I can't see them being a "must have" item.

There was a post a member had up when I first got onto the site, I'll try to find it. Anyhow, he said his car got wrecked to hell(had pics to back it up). If I'm correct, aside from the front end all but missing, he said it rolled to. Nonetheless, to give you an idea of how safe having all the airbags, including the side curtains are, he said he walked away with a deep cut on his leg, that was it. Anyone else know who I'm talking about?

accident

i remeber he had a silver SS.
he was the featured car the month he wrecked it.
and before you think this isnt a must have safty feature look at the crashtest rating with and with out it. 5 stars with. 2 stars with out. thses cars dont weigh much and with all the idiots wth huge heavy cars i like the extra protection. its worht the extra money the one time you need it.
better have it and not need it, then need it and not have it.
