The Cobalt is considered an A-body, correct?

No the Cobalt is built on the Delta platform.

Delta is General Motors' new compact front-wheel drive automobile platform, replacing the GM J platform. The platform debuted in the 2003 Saturn ION. Vehicles of this platform generally carry the symbol "A" in the fourth digit of their VINs.

I was just wondering, because at my new job, they call it the "A" car. Have no idea why.

Yes. Its an A-car. Same as the FWD Impala/Monte Carlo are W-cars.

I think the A is supposed to symbolize a triangle like delta in the greek alphabet. Hence an A for the Delta platform.

Eh. Not really. GM just ran out of letters. The C5 "Y" car was the last new car chassis before the 2004 Malibu "Z" car was introduced. The Cobalt was the next new chassis in line to be debuted so chassis designations rolled back to "A" and the Cobalt came to be an "A" car.

There was another A chassis from years past.. I think it was the Nova but I could easily be mistaken.
