car got keyed today

YEah in my fricken Driveway! I dont have pictures since it is nighttime but i will get some up later. Both doors are f'd up horribly. The driver side is worse though, they must of taken the key and etched the whole door. The scratch is so deep the paint is flaking off. On the passanger side there are 2 key lines that go from the front fender to the rear. I reported it but thats basically all i can do since i have no idea who it could be. What should i do for the time being so it doesnt rust? Sucks that i have a 500 dollar deductible also! So much for 60# injectors, 2.8pulley, and my tune i was planning on getting. Any idea how much this costs?

when my car was keyed it was only done on one side.....to the passenger rear quarter panel, to the passenger side fender. Claimed it on the insurance and paid the deductible($500) and it basically cost $1,300 for them to basically paint that side of my car. My car said "F*CK" on the door......four days after i bought it.....i feel your pain

It'll be prolly more than $500. A paint shop will prolly want to paint all the body parts that are scratched and some of the surounding areas on other body parts to make the paint flow. That is, if the insurence company lets you take it to a good paint shop.

**** man if i already had to pay a deductable, id just go ahead and finish keying every body panel so they can repaint the whole car. Maybe u can even get them to put some metallic flakes in it. Think of the good not the bad dude.

lol... if that happened to me, i'd claim it on insurance and since i have only had the car a month i'd want the full car repainted and i'd request that from the insurance company i'd also have the color changed.. hrm flat black sounds pretty good, and if that gets scratched well flat black is supposed to look worn anyways... least my flat black motorcycle helmet does and it looks badass even with the scratches haha.

my car was quoted at 3300$ to repaint. but the only part of my car that wasnt keyed way my roof. but good luck, and from my experience, i wouldnt claim it against your insurance. its listed on my policy as "not at fault incident/claim" but my rates still went up the very next month

Similar thing happened to me. Keyed my whole drivers side, carved "****" in my driver side window, keyed my headlight(wtf?), and piled gravel on my hood. Ended up costing around $1600 to fix. I have a $0 deductible on my comprehensive just because of this. Only raised my monthly insurance $7 to go from $500 ded. to $0. Maybe you could look into that for future problems. Cars like these tend to get f-ed with a lot, so a $0 ded. is not a bad idea. It's made a huge difference for me twice.

Vandalism does NOT make your insurance go up, least mine didn't. My WHOLE car was keyed last Nov and when i say whole car i mean it. The damage totaled $6,000 and 8weeks of bodyshop time. But the car is perfect!
