Car Insurance Poll
Interested in what all of you do for car insurance. I'm assuming all have car insurance. When it comes to adding modifications, do you notify your insurance or not? Some do and some don't. Just curious what I find on here.

No i dont tell them (they dont care) only 1000 is covered under their general auto policy.
For separate additional coverage - Collectors insurance - and they dont want to know whats on it, they just want to know how much to insure it for.

I don't notify mine either. Some will feel strong towards keeping them updated and state that you're in risk of voiding your policy if something unfortunate happens, while others don't believe it is needed, and state their insurance company doesn't care and if something were to happen they will treat the car as it were stock with a preset minimal amount of aftermarket coverage. Just curious what others have to say on this.

I recieve $1000 with the general policy. When I had my SS/SC I had $3000 in "extra" coverage on my vehicle to cover: GM Stage 2 + exhaust + header + installation costs. It only cost me like $6 extra every 6 months to bump it up and "IF" something did happen I would get the money back that I had spent on those parts + installation. The insurance company didn't even care what I had done, as long as I had that "extra part" coverage they automatically added $3000 to the value of my car.

No. Reason being to them it doesn't matter anyways, all it's going to do is increase the cost of my policy to cover the replacement of the parts. They look at engine displacement only, don't care it's turbocharged and don't care about HP/TQ numbers .
