Castrol Edge..

Has anyone tried it yet? I picked it up at work for $36.00 for 5 quarts. Apparently it's better than RP and Mobil 1 Extended Performance. It meets certain specifications that Mobil 1 Extended Performance and RP don't meet.

There are people bitching about how it's $36 for for 5 quart jugs, but last time I purchased 5 quarts of Mobil 1 EP, that **** was like $50. I do think that Mobil 1's formula is going down the ****-hole; it's just not as good as it once was.

Also, people are saying - "Well, Mobil 1 is a factory fill for a lot of car companies.", but I mean, it's really who pays the most money, I believe, anyway.

I only use Castrol Syntec 0w-30 from AutoZone (German Castrol/green Castrol), but I'm going to look into the specs on this really quick. I need to do a change soon.

EDIT: meh... Looks like its just a standard base with PAO additives. At a few bucks more than what I pay for the PAO/ester based stuff for a standard synthetic with a few PAOs thrown in, I'll pass...

mobil 1 hasnt gone downhill, its actualy a case of the rest of the synthetics have caught up and surpassed them in quality.

i was thinking about trying castrol edge next oil change. im not a fan of putting oil with dyes into my motor, and amsoil is hard to get around here. im sick of spending huge $$$ on mobil 1, that stuff seems to go up in price every oil change.
