only problem i had was a lose ground wire. i'll be damned if a monkey at the dealer touches it

 

06 LS Coupe 5-spd. Had it since July of 06 and has 23k miles now (I drive a lot).

Had no issues yet that required repair - needs an alignment, but that happens. My rotors are warped too, but I know exactly what that's from (mountain runs in NC/TN - Tail of the Dragon - so much damn fun!) so can't blame that on Chevy, though I was surprised how easily they warped. Nothing really bad though, just vibrates when i hit the brakes from 35-65 mph and it didn't do that before the TOTD trip, so that was definitely the culprit.

Also forgot to add - sometimes it doesn't want to go into 1st gear. Usually when I've been driving and then come to a stop at a stop sign or red light - usually if i throw it in 2nd it will then shift back into 1st pretty easily but there have been times ive had to leave red lights in 2nd because i flat out couldnt get it in 1st

Drivers side heated seat element burnt out* Dealer replaced

Paint chipping door panels and heater controls

Suspension is shot

2 rims bent from pot holes in NYC

Alot of problems with my car ready to go japanese

36,500 miles since June '05.

Driver side taillight cover wouldn't stay on. They finally ordered a new one and its been on for a year now.

Antenna needed to be tightened.

I'd say its been a pretty reliable car so far.

 

23.5 K miles and I have had my first issue....

the car shut down today while I was driving at about 30-40 mph..... cause TDB
I am no longer confident that my SC will get me where I need to go

I am told it is bad gas .... we'll see
Car runs fine as of now.... but, I am getting terrible FIAT flashbacks
I had a Fiat 128 Rally when I was younger and the car would randomly not start... talk nice to her and she'd start, very strange...but she never shut down while in motion

Vehicle reliability research

Both 2005 and 2007 are within five owners of getting started. Also need more 2006s.

 

I bought a used '05 rental base unit with 5k miles, am up to over 36k miles and the only problems were the short mileage tires that came on it from factory. Have kept all maint./service up to par, including early gear box and transfer oil changes. Pure stock, back and forth from LA to Portland OR 5 times at 80-100mph w/33.6 mpg. Only gripe is the limiter being set to 105 mph.

 

Since i've had my car [bought used] for one year i have only had to get recalls fixed and when i got it both struts were blown. other than that i see the gas guage not 100% reliable and my gas milage isnt even close to that little paper in the window. I manage 22 in town and im lucky to get 30 city. Thats all according the little computer in my car though. i probalby get worse. I have to put fuel in almost every week. [note that my '79 truck has better gas milage than this]. Other than all that im very happy with my car. Mine was the first generation so im sure i have more quirks than the newer cobalts.

 

I've got an '07 LS coupe, no options, manual tranny, 9800 miles.

I'm a little disappointed that I've already got a rattle under the dash, and just this afternoon I got a CEL. I stopped and shut the car off for a few minutes, restarted it, and then my tach stopped working intermintently.

I guess it's going to the dealer on Tues...

My Jetta never had problems like this...

UPDATE - It turns out that the crank angle sensor was dying. I had to take it back again on Thursday, which was a pain for me because I work 8am till 11pm weekdays, and buses don't run to my work, but it seems to be working for now.

 

mine is a terd

1. brakes (tightened)

2. brakes (re assembled, found out they did them wrong at the factory)

3. brakes (air in the line which worked its way out, they told me nothing was wrong w/ the brakes, but the pedal would move up and down)

4. blower motor bearings squeeky (told me nothing wrong w/ it and it doesnt squeak when it does especially in cold weather)

5. keyless entry (remote went up, got it fixed, had to give me a new remote and program it)

6. wheel stud (snapped while driving)

7. wheel stud (within 2days of the other one snapped while putting lugs on after fixing first one)

 

my 2007 Cobalt SS/SC just turned 30,100 miles today and after a year of ownership, I can only say that I love the car more and more each day. I have had no problems with the car other than an issue the first couple of days that was remedied quickly.

I average between 32-38mpg and have gotten past the short-wearing tire issue by going to a different size/manufacturer.

So far, the first 30,000 have been fun!

10K miles after 8 months.

2 wheel studs broke, my fault I forgot to take off the rings around the studs when I got my aftermarket wheels. Both fixed under warranty.

Awesome car, too bad I'll be trading it in come next May. I'm not even gonna say what for, you already know.

I had less than 3000 miles on my 2007 ls coupe and my master cylinder failed causing the clutch to completly burn up and it also destroyed my pressure plates. I had the master cylinder, clutch and pressure plates replaced under warranty along with whatever other pices and parts were affected and no I ddn't abuse my clutch or ride the hell out of it.

 

Looks like the sticky on this thread got unstuck. Which might explain why fewer Cobalt owners have been joining lately...

Anyway, still very much need participants. Just posted the latest results, here:

sunroof track broke, clicking axles, intermediate shaft popping, squeaks and rattles, misc. trim stuff, and damaged hood and front bumper from factory

13,300 miles so far. it's never thrown any codes or left me stranded. not even a lick of brake problems. some minor clutch slippage

 

Back again for an update...

2007 Chevrolet Cobalt SS/SC... at 35,319 miles, the drivers' side lower stabilizer bar link loosened up/broke and was allowing the front sway bar to making a knocking noise at low speed while hitting bumps. The dealer brought the car in, without an appointment, had the part right there. The tech had the old one out and the new one installed inside of 15 minutes. Problem solved. My only other bitch is the sunroof sunshade rattling in the cold. My friends' Jetta does the same thing, so I'll just chalk it up to oh well... -15F!

I've only had one problem in the two years I've owned my G5. The sensor on the hood that tells the computer it's closed so you can use the remote start was installed wrong from the factory, so it had to be replaced. And my taillight bulb burned out at 2,000 miles.

 

yea i had that...they kept givin me crappy ass rotors and then i got on ther ass and they gave me good ones.

 

reliability sucks
