Chevy emblem on trunk?
A heat gun would work too, but you run the risk of getting the emblem so hot it melts the fishing line. The residue...you can claybar it out some say, I tried this method and every once in a while you can see the outline of the bowtie. My suggestion would be to use the goo gone to get the thing off, then goo gone the area as best as possible and then claybar. Then...get it buffed out cuz for some reason the clay didn't completely get rid of it for me.
I just debadged both mine and my girlfriends balts last weekend. Heat up the bowtie with a heat gun so it's easier to pull the fishing line through. Take off the badge, heat up the excess 2 sided tape left on the car with the heat gun. You'll be able to push it off with you're fingers. Put WD40 on a terry cloth so you don't scratch the paint. Wipe off the little bit of glue left on the car. Then take some car wax and wax where the badge was. Good to go

If I had to do it again I'd tape off the area around the bow tie with painter's tape before starting. I even used floss instead of fishing line to prevent scratches but there's still little scratches if you look at it in the full sun. Need to get it buffed up. But I agree that heat is definitely key!
i waited for a good hot sunny day and just pulled the ones off my altima by hand....used some rubbing alcohol to remove the residue....no fishing line or goo gone or heat gun for me
its all about the warm sunny day
