Chevy vs Chevy
Hey,
In a race, which car do you think will win?? the Chevy CobaltSS or a Chevy Camaro? I personaly the that the Camaro would win, Wellt the CobaltSS might win, but no a V8. Well let me know what you think.

82-92 Camaro vs Cobalt SS = Cobalt SS
93-97 Camaro V6 vs Cobalt SS = Cobalt SS
93-97 Camaro LT1 vs Cobalt SS = Drivers race
98-02 Camaro V6 vs Cobalt SS = Cobalt SS
98-02 Camaro LS1 vs Cobalt = Camaro

just take it this way, v8 camaros are really fast, lt1 or ls1 (ls1 is god). There are a couple of v6's out there that would show up a stock ls1, like a cammed v6 (good buddy of mine runs 13 flats on his cammed 3800II 2000 firebird) . As far as v8's, i wouldnt worry about that, you will lose in a stock Cobalt SS.
A thirdgen 350TPI might win over a Cobalt SS.
A 305 TPI 5 speed with 3.45s and light on options would hang right with it. I suspect the Cobalt has greater top end and would pass it at the end though.
LT1 should have no real trouble though.

No one is running 12's with just a intake and exhaust on a LT1 unless the intake goes through a turbine looking thing attached to the accessory belt.
And 99% of Lt1's are low 14 second cars. If you have one that went 13's stock put the timeslip in a frame and hang it on your wall.
And in stock form no 3rd Gen (82-92) will touch a Cobalt SS. Unless you start bringing up Firehawks and Turbo Trans Ams.

my friend ran 13.8 stock, now hes at 12.6 with a K&N, and SLP exhaust, thats it, its a 95 z28
All I am going to say is that you must think everyone here is pretty damn stupid.
Unless by exhaust you mean SLP LT Headers, Larger Y-Pipe and a SLP Cat-back or LT headers with true duals.
Otherwise it is 100% impossible. Sorry

im gonna have to agree with this...You guys should really visit LS1Tech.com some time...those guys are damn smart. A FULL exhaust/intake LT1 MAY run a low 13, but who knows, there are freak cars out there...

i dont think anybody is stupid, he really ran that time
i just asked him, he has pacesetter/jet hot headers, a full SLP exhaust, and a K&N filter
so i dunno what world you guys are living in, but thats the facts
I could care less who would win stock for stock Camaro VS. Cobalt SS; your friend is feeding you bullshit, unless he was running some sticky tires.
I have owned pretty much every car you're talking about lol. I've had a 96 V-6 5-speed (3800) Camaro, the SS/SC would beat it. I have a 96 Z28 (LT1), and maybe back in 96 the Z28 was alot quicker, but with 10 years of abuse (not to mention the motors current blown) it'd be a close driver's race. The LS1.... well lets not go there.
Basic thing is the Camaro is a pony/muscle car. The Cobalt is not. It's not fair to compare the two.
The Cobalt should be compared to the Si Civic, The Mazda Speed 3, the SRT-4 (even though its out of production) and in that class it does very very well IMO (guess thats why I bought one).
