Clogged Cat? or other problem?

So i have been driving my car for a while and when i had a completely stock exhaust system i noticed that around the hole that the tip comes out on the bumper got covered in black. Eventually I cut off my muffler and replaced it with a rigged up glasspack. In the spots that were clamped on and had very very slight exhaust leaks, the pipes were also starting to turn black. Also when i'm full throttle and my friends are following me they said my car blows a little bit of black smoke. Also there are no CEL's. Could this mean my cat is clogged or could it be a different fuel problem? My car is an l61 with a typhoon intake and a stock exhaust other than the fact that the muffler is cut off, and it had this problem before the muffler was cut off.

PS i hope its the cat because then it gives me an excuse to get a new full exhaust system from ZZP

How many miles on the car. On my car my exhaust tip is always black, until I polish, then after a couple days, it goes black again. If it were a cat , it would more then likely throw a code, saying the cat is bad, or 02 sensor etc .

Likely your intake is throwing the fueling off and making you run rich.

Yeah if I had to guess I'd say you're running a little too rich. It might be that you have an aftermarket intake on there without a tune. If you're not getting enough air, the car will try to add in more gas to make up for the combustion. Check your air filter and make sure it's nice and clean.

Not the cat. Look at any car's muffler and it'll be black inside. Normal
