Im pretty positive it will become a car you will see on the lot after they get all cought up with production and pre-orders, but not a lot of them, sort of like how you see a couple sti's here and there at dealers. If they flood the market and dealers with them it'll be stupid.

I think the 2006 Cobalt SS will be a 2.4 L Inline 4 thats *not* superchargered.
I don't think the 2005 Cobalt SS S/C will make it past 2005 model year. I do believe they will be on the lots. Probably will be hard to find one on the lots.

i think it will be around a lot longer than this year. I would even go so far as to say it's more likely that the 2.4L ECo will not apear in the next year, than it is to say that the SSSC will dissappear before a 4-5 year run.
Why would you put so much into the production of a car, and hype it up , only to produce it for 8 months. that wouldn't make sense to me, althought chevy has done more weird things.

I wouldn't see why not...I don't think they plan on putting the ax on a car only 8 months after they release it...Especially if the car does really well the first year.

You can "order" anything you want, anytime you want. That doesn't mean anything. Our dealership had a customer that "ordered" an SSR almost three years before production even began, he still had to wait just like everybody else for them to come in.

If you really want, you can come to my dealership and I can assist you in "ordering" a 2015 Hy-Wire (read the article here http://autos.msn.com/advice/article....21814&src=News ) but that doesn't mean anything.

If I read it correctly, the original message was more along the lines of how long the actual vehicles (2006 SS) will stay on the lot. I think he wanted to know if there were going to be long waits for the SS as there is now for the SS/SC. Not whether or not they were going to discontinue a specific model line.

In fact I don't think the original post included anything about the SS/SC. Zinners message was intended to say that the 05 SS/SC are not going to be on the lots in 06, thus there will be 06 SS/SC to take their places.

IMHO I don't think that there's going to be such a high demand for the SS (2.4L Eco, and no it is not supercharged) because those buyers who were waiting have a similar alternative (the SS/SC or the LS/LT) whereas the potential buyers for the SS/SC right now are waiting on even the coupes to come out. Further, the SS is going to be toned down quite a bit, the capacities of the 2.4 engine is considerably less that the 2.0, and the "racer/tuner" markets will have already had the SS/SC for a year by then.

Just my two cents.

Huh?!?

I think you're confusing your models.

In 2006 there will be the following Cobalt model lines
Coupe:
Base (2.2 Eco)
LS (2.2 Eco)
SS (2.4 Eco)
SS/SC (2.0 Eco Supercharged)

Sedan
Base (2.2 Eco)
LS (2.2 Eco)
LT (2.2 Eco)
SS (2.4 Eco)

The SS is a model line that is not available in 2005. From what I can tell the only difference is going to be the engine, otherwise it will be equipped like an LS, and is available in both coupe and sedan, in both cloth and leather.

Somebody double check my numbers here, but I believe the 2.2 Eco is 145 hp, the 2.4 Eco will be 175 and the 2.0 Supercharged Eco is 205.

So you are still going to be able to get a 205 horsepower Cobalt in November, it will be a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt SS Supercharged (not an SS).

Villain

P.S. And just to make it confusing, the HHR will be arriving around the same time.

You are right. The 2.2L is 145hp. A lot of people on a lot of boards think next years SS model with the 2.4L replaces the SS/SC. Not really sure where that rumor got started.

Odds are you want the SS/SC. The SC stands for SuperCharger. Its the fastest cobalt. The normal SS isn't available until 2006, and it doesn't have a supercharger, but a VVT 2.4L and automatic only.

So if you want the performer, you want the SS/SC.

It is kinda confusing but right now next years Cobalt SS doesnt even exist as far as production. The name of the Cobalt with 205 hp is the Cobalt SS Supercharged we just say SS/SC because its shorter. If you look at the chevy site it says SS Supercharged.

If twice the people knew half as much as three quarters of the people on here, then they would be two thirds as intelligent as three fifths of the rest of us.

Its really not that hard,

.6669X*.6U=2x*.5(.75z)

X= (.375z/6u)/.33345

Althought with multiple variables undefined you can't go farther than that.

it been a while since I did some algerbra but I think its .75z / .40014u

as for the fractions that one can not be solved, not enough information to solve it (you are assuming everyone is capable of the same amount of knowledge)

4 varibles requires 4 seperate equations. Try it with 15 varibles and you need mathlab to figure it out. Matrix Algebra still gives me nightmares.

na.... just had really good teachers that tought me how to do it in my head. Its funny when your in calculus class in college and your correcting the teacher. I went to one class in college and decided the teacher was going to screw me up, so I just went to the test and did no studing, ended up with a 97% for the class

I had algebra and calc in college, in fact I went to nine years of college, ended up with degrees in Philosophy and Political Science, with a concentration in Pre-Law, minors in English, History, Classical Civ, Communication, and Coaching.

I sell Chevy's for a living.
