Smile Most In-Transit have Sunroof

Well folks, It looks like most of the Cobalts going to be delivered first all have Sunroofs except for the one going to Colorado. some also have XM radio and a few with the Side Curtain Airbags.

The first one to arrive lloks like it will be Campbell Chevrolet Bowling Green KY, expected arrival 03/02, was shipped on the 17th, a day after they started production.

Id expect the cars to be going to large dealers, but Dick Eazor Chevrolet, Brockway PA - Victory Red, is out in the sticks. Well, its a small town and a very small dealership, cant believe a small place would recieve the car first. Interesting how things work. Also hard to believe more places in OH arent on the list....

I am sure NONE of these are pre-oders because you can't search for "sold" units unless they are more that 30 days old.

Two things... what the dealer actually pays for them is impossible to tell. Between destination charges, how many times it's been filled with gas, washed, inspected, how many days it's sat on the lot accruing interest and the dealer paying insurance on it, etc.

Second, does it matter. If you can beat a dealer down to "invoice" congrats, you're saving what? a couple hundred dollars? The "price" of something is decided by the market value. Hence, the C6 and SSR were at one point in time selling for five grand over sticker, now the Vettes are at sticker and heck, I'll sell you an SSR for back of invoice... it doesn't matter what we paid for it.

The biggest thing is that no matter what happens, a dealer will not lose money just to sell you a car that they can sell to a couple hundred other people for more money. If they think they can sell it for 25 grand, they will hold on to it until they do. If they think they have to "discount" the vehicle just to move it, they will.

It's gonna be a 2005, they have a full nine months to sell it before it's "old". It's not going to stay there long. Why would a dealer sell you the car when you "hassle" them about price, if they can make more money by selling it to someone else?

So your saying if you order the vehicle that the dealer is going to try to charge more than MSRP because they can sell that order to someone for more? The only time I have heard of dealers raising prices is for rare vehicles like the Hummers and some of the specail vettes.

I hardly think the cobalt ss is in this league

In Ontario it is against the law to sell cars for any mark up over sticker prices. It's awesome we get protected here.

They mark up cars all the time around here. However I havent seen a GM dealership do it. When the 2005 Mustang came out all the ford dealerships except 1 (which was the largest one was selling thier mustangs at anywhere from 2,000$-4,000$ above invoice. The sad thing was people were actually paying that!

I've already been "guaranteed" (not that that means anything) that I'll receive a discount on my car and will not have to pay MSRP. If they've changed their minds, I'm getting my deposit back and they can stick the car up their collective asses and smoke it!!
