He wont be that big of a problem until about 110, your good otherwise, Just dont **** on the shifter before the race and you will have no problems.

Because that's such a popular thing to do before a race?

The only thing a 350Z has going for it is the RWD launch, thats about it though.

Like any other Nissan the rest is ricer hype.

if he is a bad driver you will take him, it's almost even except you have the upperhand.

I thought everyone shat on the shifter before a race...like a good luck thing.

Anyways you'll take him pretty easy. And if you want proof I saw a video on streetfire that had a cobalt beat a 350Z pretty easily.

Ok, let's be a little more realistic here and come back down to planet earth. I have driven both cars and the Z is faster. He will get you on the launch and if he is a quick shifter he will keep whatever lead he has there and maybe pull a little bit. Zs are slightly faster then our car. This isn't a drivers race, he has a slight edge. However if he is a bad driver you can take him. Remember though, your margin for error is a lot less then his so you need to drive your ass off too. The launch is going to be key here.

Keep it on the track too.

Sounds about right. Stock for stock the Z might be a little faster by like .106 seconds but I would have to raise the drivers race flag on that since he has mods. Race him for sure, He wont pull much on you.

ok this makes a little bit of sense until this comments are made...

"This isn't a drivers race, he has a slight edge. However if he is a bad driver you can take him."

isnt that exactly what a "drivers race" means?

NO! You could beat a Corvette with a bad driver. If the driver of the Z is average he will win. Hell I have seen STIs run 15s. Does that make Cobalt SS/SC vs STI a drivers race? I don't think so.

In my opinion a drivers race is one that if raced with eqaually skilled drivers the results will be even everytime. Meaning if you race 10 times you will win 5, he will win 5. That's not the case with the Z. With equally skilled drivers the Z will win 10 and the Cobalt will win none.

Or just get GMPP stage 2 before you run him and OWN him like a 4 year old red headed step child in k mart. Imagine the look on his face!

But I beleive this race will be determined by the launch personally. But those 350Z's are no joke, theres a reason they have a price tag close to 30K.

Yeah I've raced Zs 3 times. Beat the first one from a roll, i think we have the advantage here, from 40mph. Second one I beat by 2 cars from a dig. And the third, a good driver, took me 3 times from a dig. So I wouldnt really call it a drivers race, its just that when your racing someone on the street you never know if they can drive or not. Thats why I really dont care what kind of care lines up next to me, Evo, STi, GTO, etc. Chances are about 50/50 that the guy next to you cant drive to save his life. Last time I went to a track there was a 06 GTO and 05 Evo there both running 14.5-15s. A PT Cruiser GT with an intake only took the Evo, now thats sad.

totally agree 100% z's run a low 14 like a 14.1 14.2 the worst i have seen them run is a 14.3 in a mag the best i have seen the cobalt run in a mag is 14.4 and normally a ss/sc runs a 14.8 but with your mods it will make it a lot close than that i think in this instance it is a drivers race he still might have a SLIGHT SLIGHT advantage

Hmmm, havent raced a car yet that has to shift less than ours. Anything with a 6-speed will shift more than us.

If it's the new 350z with 300 hp you might have some trouble. I belive if it's an 05 or older, you should take him, but from a launch, it will be hard.

i'd say it depends on the model. Zs all look the same, but equipment and power varies a LOT... the older ones, you could get 287hp, a crap load of toys and an auto, or 300hp and a stripped interior with brembo brakes... the 06s are all 300hp. and it's a LOT faster than the 287hp model.

if it's an 05 or older with an auto, you'll dust him, 05 or older with a 6 speed, you've got a shot, esp if it's one with an open diff, they whell spin pretty easy then.

i wouldn't race him. Z owners seem to be ****** anyway, and if he just keeps talking ****, i have a feeling he's going to do something stupid and riskk someones life.

I am a average driver and I got a car length pulled on me by a Z. Roll racing takes no skill so I would assume that he would win. It took him while to pull the length on me though at about the top of third gear. Z's have the advantage over a stock SS from a roll and a dig. Get some bolt ons and make hims see the our badging.
