I was set on a tC for awhile until I realized that I really wanted the performance of the ss/sc... Although I would be leary of a 30k ss/sc like everybody else said, maybe it would be better to go for the tC.

Honestly, the tC options can all be added afterwards for a much cheaper price (For example, trdsparks.com has most of the options at a much lower price) In fact, MOST people get the tC bone stock and install those later. So, saying that, don't let the options get you down because if you want them, get them later when you have the money.

Performance - tC's CAN be fast, with the trd supercharger you get 200hp and it doesn't violate your warranty after dealer installation for around 3500 installed, that makes a bone stock tC almost 20k. Is it worth it? You can decide... If you go turbo then it will run much more and end up around 300hp or so. Fast? yes. Expensive? yes. After a turbo you might as well have bought a brand new ss/sc.

If you really can't squeeze pennies for a less mileage or newer ss/sc then the tC is a very nice solid toyota quality car. They look pretty sweet too...

Would like to see proven stats that shows the SS/SC depreciates slower than the tC...

Agreed, the tC in the end will be worth more than the Cobalt. Any popular automotive review site will show the tC's depriciation rate lower than the SS/SC.

Well considering I just got back more than I paid for the damn thing on trade in...I just keep seeing the tc's used for way less than used ss/sc's with comparable miles...guess I will look some stuff up...I'm not being an ass about it...I just was giving my opinion, I could be wrong...

Get the tC. It's far more reliable for one. Secondly their engine are much stronger than the Cobalt SS/SC. Put a turbo on the tC and 300+whp is at your tap at 10psi. I've seen the tC take 18psi as a daily driver with just changing the head studs to hold the pressure in, and lay 450+whp on a stock bottom end. Plus, the initial setback on the car is $17K for a 5spd and loaded. Check out scionlife.com for all sorts of info.

Why not just go for the 2.4L Cobalt SS? You get similar looks to an SS/SC, slightly higher performance than a tC, and about a 17k price brand new. Not to mention its a chevy

Im biased since I own a SS/SC but a guy I work with has a TC and that car stays at the dealership getting stuff fixed more than at his house.

It's cool dude, I was just surprised. I would have never thought that the SS/SC depreciated slower than the tC. If you can prove it that will be cool for SS/SC owners.

I think the SS/SC doesn't really compare to the tC speed whise...since its N/A stock.

But as for looks, i'd go with the tC...all depends on what you're really looking for man!

Resale on the tC is also very low...so think about that.

Personally I love the tC's...but I see far too many of them around here where I live...they don't really amaze me anymore.

But to sum it up...if you're going more for looks/style, I suggest getting a tC.

And if you're looking for a pretty damn quick stock car, with pretty decent styling...pick up the SS/SC.

idk about this whole resale being low on a tC. i owned a tC for 3 weeks before a drunk driver hit me head on. i enjoyed my tC much more then my cobalt. i do have an LT non the less but i have driven my friends SS/SC on our road trip. not when, but if the TRD supercharger is released for the tC i believe the SS/SC wont have a shot at it. the tranny's in toyota vehicles are not the greatest though but the styling on inside and out of a tC is amazing.

*edit: dont flame about how scrambled my thoughts are right now... longggg night

One of the main reasons I got rid of my Vibe is the toyota tranny

TRD supercharger has been out for a while for both the standard and automatic tC. Its a Vortech unit so it kinda sucks as far as the value goes. They state it brings it to 200bhp and a marginal increase in torque. I think they would have been better off with a positve displacement one or a turbo. Stock SS/SC will still eat a TRD supercharged one right up.

Yah if you dont feel like paying for a used SS/SC get a new 2.4 SS and whenyou save enough money put a turbo on it. My buddy has a release series tc, nothing special. If you wanna go fast get a SS/SC or SS/NA either or both are faster than the TC.

If you’re going Toyota get the XRS matrix or Corolla there are pretty quick they are 6speed and they read line at 8 1/2 rps my brother has his xrs on the bottle and dam that car fly’s. Stock the XRS will take out the TC.
