So you're saying that the SS/SC has adjustable struts?

I did a search on the braking on both cars, and found the following:

2005 SRT-4
Curb Weight : 2970 lbs
Top speed : 153 mph
0-60 mph : 5.6 sec.
60-0 braking distance : 120 ft

2005 Cobalt SS/SC
Curb Weight : 2991 lbs
Top speed : 143 mph
0-60 mph : 6.4 sec.
60-0 braking distance : 121

So the 4dr weighs less than the 2dr? Looks like braking is about sixes.

That was the 2003 m/y with the Michelin Pilot Sports. Tread blocks lifted pretty easy. The BFG KDW's were chosen because they're a tougher tire

I would go with the Cobalt SS S/C just because I didn't like the SRT-4 when I saw it in person. We've all heard my argument about drawing a line between performance and comfort as well.

Of course everyone is going to say the SS its a Cobalt SS message board. Go to an SRT forum and they will say the SRT. Its all just depends on the person. These post are becoming so played out on every message board.

I voted SS hence the reason why i bought one.

My reasons:

Simple. Nicer, cleaner, better looks and lines, and most of all.. not a 4 door

dont get me wrong there are alot of nice 4 doors out there however im not ready for one

With the SRT, the only thing im impressed with is the power and the upgrades for it. My buddy is getting some more mods and will easily be pushing 300hp and tq. With the SS, theres no way i will be able to safely with warranty, get that kind of hp. Maybe if i really wanna push later after my warranty is up, yes.. but for now, 200-250 would be nice and thats all i need. Im more into the looks of the car, due to the fact is how often are you going to be able to race someone and show off the power, let alone use that power?

The SRT is a good bang for the buck. Yes a little more pricey than the SS, but a good investment. You can also buy a 04 for 22-24gs. For me, the cobalt is the way to go

Pricey how? They're damn near the same. Compare std package vs std package. Sheesh.

Why does no one see that the srt is our friend in the war of imports? Everyone has this or that to say about it. IT IS A REALLY NICE CAR. If you wana diss some cars lets diss some imports, but lay off the srt. Both cars are really nice and much better than any import in their price bracket.

Yah im with you on that one, we should stick together and talk about what we all have in common instead of pointing out our differences

It's not clear and there is a contest. Your post lacks any data to back up your point.

Did you read the motortrend article comparing the two?

At the very least the cars have a lot in common and do compete on all levels. With every competition there are some points the SRT-4 wins and some the SS/SC wins. Even if you don't agree with the numbers published by motortrend you can certainly see that the cars perform roughly the same.

Dont argue with Boost Zinner his head is about as thick as the pavement your SS has been doing burnouts on...

I agree that the SRT-4 is a nice car, and I suppose that it is a domestic car technically. I, however, see it as an import because Dodge is owned by the Germans. Toyota Camrys are made in a factory about 20 miles from where I live, and I don't see how those Camrys are any less domestic than an SRT-4. The Cobalt SS is the only true domestic sport compact in my book.

What kind of malarky is that?
The SRT is built here, designed here, R&D'd here, sold here, and so on. The Toyota is designed in japan, built in Japan as well as "assembled" here stateside. Quit being so ****.

The SRT-4 definately has more power.
The SS seems like a more refined car.

I would need to drive both before making a decision on which is better.
Viper seats in the SRT-4. Recaros in the SS. Both have factory LSDs.
(Although the SRT-4 comes with the LSD, but the SS makes it optional.)

Personally, they both seem like they are pretty good cars for the money.

I know people that where pretty high up at Dodge when the "merger" happened. Any americans with any real power were either stripped of their power or fired. The only reason that it was called a merger in the first place was so that Chrysler could keep its domestic image, but it is anything but domestic in reality. It's not malarkey, it's the sad truth. Anyone that thinks otherwise is in denial.

Toyota Camry is made in the USA.
My Grand Prix was made in Canada.

I wish GM could build here in America.

So you're saying there are no Americans on the SRT team?

BWAGHAHAJHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHHAHHA You're such a dork.

I will agree with you that the "merger" was a ruse. That doesn't change my statement about the SRT-4 being built here, tested here, designed here, and manufactured here.
Nice try though.
