A cobalt, tragically lost

So has anyone else in here had their car taken away from them tragically? My last car, 2 two door 5spd lt was parked on campus (far away to avoid door dings) and that parking lot happened to flood about 2 and a half feet. In the end, I had a very wet and totalled car. There's nothing more sad than opening your door and seeing your mats float...But anyway, now I have my 08 sport from the insurance, and it worked out, but it was still tragic nonetheless. Anyone else have an story of tragic loss?

My parents bought an 02' Altima 3.5SE M5 when it FIRST came out... I'll remind everyone that back then, 240hp in a family sedan was a pretty big ******* deal.

They went to the movies 3 weeks into owning the car and parked in the absolute middle of nowhere to not get dinged.

...Well, some moron with a Taurus worth maybe $20 left his doors unlocked and keys in the car. Drunk kids proceeded to steal the Taurus, lose control while screwing around with it in the open lot, and slam into my dad's brand new Nissan.

The car wasn't totaled, but it never drove the same after that. It had really persistent wind noise that the dealership never found, too. At least they caught the kids... The morons drove the broken ass car to a pizza place and parked it outside while they ate.

should have bought an american car

i say that for 2 reasons, 1- the car would have a better chance of driving the same, 2- support america

1 - Bullshit. My SS/TC is no better built than the 05' Altima I drove for years.

2 - I drive an American car, but it's sure as hell not to "support America". I buy the best product available based on my criteria, I won't buy crap just to support domestic workers. I support whoever endeavours to build a superior product.

Thankfully, my SS/TC is a superior product.

Altimas are made in TN and MS thus you're supporting domestic workers either way, and how do you figure the car would have a better chance of driving the same? Maybe you should shut the hell up and come back when you know what you're talking about.

Good for you. The only thing I fully support is what I feel makes best use out of my money. If it's domestic, it's domestic, if it's import it's import. So be it.

Besides, I'm not even American; I have even LESS compulsion to buy garbage made domestically.

Build be a high quality product and I'll buy it, I don't give a **** if you build it in Antarctica.

My dad had a 1983 Chevy Malibu. Took it into the shop to have new tires put on. When they put the car on the lift they must not have checked to make sure the lift supports were in the right place. When they lifted the car and went to take the first tire off, the car fell off the lift and was totaled.

my parents had a brand new monte carlo in the early early80's, they were shopping at a mall on christmas eve.(Oh and i mean brnad new, under 200 miles). Well they put a whole bunch of toys for my brother and cousin in the car then went into another store. Came out car was gone. Insurance gave them a check for only the depreciated value of the car. So they lost like 4k. They didnt have enough money to get another monte carlo they wound up buying a used station wagon.

Worst part is 2 weeks later they found the car on the side of the road, untouched, people stole the toys in the back and left the car. But the car now belonged to the insurance company, my parents couldnt get it back.

^^^ The operator operating the lift WOULD FALL OFF THE FACE OF THIS EARTH IF HE DID THAT WITH MY CAR. I WOULD PROBABLY GET IN BIG TROUBLE, repeatedly punching his head UFC like and going unconcious and not stopping till I feel statisfied(or my arm gets tired). That's how pissed off I would get.

Yeah a car falling off of the lift just isn't acceptable in the 21st century.

my uncle had a 67 camaro (first camaro). He had just finsihed doing a 454 motor swap in it and supercharging it. Only thing left was a paint job. I dont remember where he said the car was but when he went to go out to his car in the morning it was gone and about 5 or 6 hours later he got a phone call from the flint police department. They told him that they found his car abandon and shot full of bullet holes.

2 months later he bought a 69 z28 and heavly modded it too.

My parents bought a brand new 1988 Cadillac Sedan Deville. One of the regular sized caddies instead of the boats. 3 days after they had it with only probably 100 miles or so on it, a guy in a motor cycle hit the drivers side door, smashing it in and also denting the hood and front panel from when the bike kicked sideways and up. Was probably only doing like 30 MPH or so. Biker was fine, but the electric window on the drivers side never worked right again. It was repaired probably 20 or 30 times over the 5 years they had the car and everytime they billed it back to the guys insurance. I think the insurance only paid because my father threatened and would have probably won to make them replace the entire door, along with repainting the entire car with original paint and clear coat and everything to make sure that the door properly matched everything else and it all wore the same.

my buddy has an 08 evo x, that thing rips, only with a CAI its at 320! Next up full greddy catback dual exhaust system hopefully get it into mid 12's, runnin low 13's now with bad clutch?! But the IX's are a lot nicer and its the same potential seeing its the same engine in a lighter car!!

Oh yeah, forgot what thread was about!

Back in 03 my uncle bought a brand new silverado single cab black, 5 speed, all in all a pretty nice truck. About a month later he went partying and when he came out truck was missing, he informed the authorities. Same night he got a call saying they found the truck in a neihboring city slammed into a tree, totalled! Good thing he had insurance, he got a new one!
