Cobalts Underpopulated?
Cobalts Underpopulated?
I was thinking about this earlier today:
-The SRT-4 started selling in late 2002 with the 2003 model, and the car in new condition was for the most part off the lot in late 2005, (early 2005 around my area). I see tons more SRT-4s running around with a bunch more aftermarket support.
-The Cobalts started selling in I believe late 2004 with the 2005 models. They are now selling 07's off the lot, they don't have nearly as much aftermarket support and I hardly ever see them on the road.
I know I have to factor in that the SRT-4 has been around late 02 and still is around today, but the Cobalt is easily 2 years old, when the SRT-4 was two years old they were still popular and had a ton of aftermarket support. I don't understand it? The Balt even had a commercial.

I can't walk 10 feet without seeing a cobalt. If you're referring to the SS yes they are scarce. The SS has been out for just over 1.5 years and the aftermarket is slow thats for sure. Mainly due to the lack of appeal of the SC from the tuner perspective and lack of interest b/c of the wing and 2 doors in the general public prespective.
As for the srt4 it became very popular quick especailly when there was the one and only article that stated the srt4 ran 5.3 0-60 and 13.8 1/4 mile. Once ppl heard that they started selling like crazy and the turbo aftermaket took off. Than theres the other 2 groups of ppl. Every moron that doesnt have alota money and wants to go fast buys a srt4 and the other group would be the ppl that mistook it for a mid level neon (can't see how) and bought it not knowing what it really was. Also taken into account is 4 doors instead of 2.
To sum up.....
Everyone and their dog that wanted to go stupid fast in a straight line and didnt care about exterior, interior, what ppl thought or driving a neon bought one.
PS I never heard about the srt4 until 2004 and they stopped making them in 2005. But after I realized why, the 03's were garbage from what I have read and heard.

The Viper seats kill the Recaros soooo bad its not even funny. The cockpit of the car does look plain and not as attractive or appealing as the SRT-4, but its defenetly IMO a more comfortable spacious ride then the SS/SC.

I see a decent number of LS/LT sedans around here... few coupes... I've seen only one 2.4 SS... and I've seen 3 SS/SC's that belong to non css.net members. Too bad they were going the opposite direction from me... I swear I'm gonna get a big css.net windshield banner.

Ever riden in ur back seats HOLY ***** that was one of thee worst experiences of my life. Roomy and comforatable?? you must be a smaller guy cuz I kept elbowing the co-driver last time i was in one. Comfortable, no offense man but you got some nerve damage some where. If you're arguing "these" facts than theres no point in continuing this deabte because u'll never understand. When I looked at everything I needed in a car the SS always won out over the srt4. I will gladly sacrifice some performance and alota potenital to fulfill the other 20 criteria that were on my list.

What do you know, its right. No nerve damage, 6 ft tall and think the car is nice. Its not a rode trip car, but neither is the SS by any means. I love th fact that the SS has XM and Onstar and MP3 capability, but I think the SRT-4 is just the overall meanier, faster, funner, better looking car to drive. To each his own though. I love the Cobalt so much aswell.
