Coblat SS or Camaro SS?

I know this is a Cobalt forum, but since the Camaro and Cobalt are both Chevy's and not in the same class, I figure there can be some objective points of view. Basically, I've been thinking about getting a Cobalt for a few months now, but the new Camaro has been my dream car for the last few years. After the hype on the Camaro concept died down, I thought maybe it'd be a better idea to go with the cheaper Cobalt SS, which is still a fun and sporty car, and can pick up chicks. But then GM recently released the final production version of the car, and now I really want the Camaro badly. I'm a 24 year old single guy, so I can afford either one, so should I go with the fun and fast and cheaper Cobalt SS, or should I go all out and get the badass ultimate monster muscle that's even faster and can pick up more chicks but costlier Camaro SS? THIS is a really tough decision.

Also, what's the major community website/forum for the Camaro like this site?

BTW, if the main question seemed rather redundant it probably is...

Thanks!

You're gonna get both sides in here. People will say get the Cobalt and mod it out or get the camaro and you'll be set. It's all what you want. Do you mean the ss/sc or ss/tc cobalt? Check out ls1tech forum. You'll find a lot of camaro gear heads over there as well as here.

If you want muscle, get the camaro. If you want a small, fast, fuel sipper, get a cobalt.

Um...camaro. But it's not really in the same league as the cobalt ss honestly, it's an upgrade. I've seen the new (is it?) challenger srt-8 and that looks really badass too...but dodge...meh. But be forewarned; gas mileage in the camaro will be far worse than the cobalt ss...most people on here get better than factory mpgs.

But on the chick fronts, as long as you can pull hard it's liquid panty remover.

The SS camaro gets cylinder shutoff

23mpg EPA. for having 420+hp out of the box, that's pretty badass.

and those same people that get better than factory claimed mpgs out of their cobalts will do the same with their camaro.

mazdaspeed 3 is nice enough I suppose...kinda ugly if you ask me.

That's probably the truth.

The ms3 is kind of fugly but not as fugly as the caliber srt-4...ugh what was dodge thinking?

i actually like the caliber srt-4, lol.

it needs work bone stock in the appearance department, i'll admit, and I only like them in black...but really all the work they need, imo, is a good debadging, gloss black rims with polished lip, and a drop. maybe some tint.

Honestly.....you're really asking this question? If you have the funds, get the camaro. I'll rip youre nuts off if you don't get the 6 speed manual though. LS3 ftw. For the person who said get an LS1 f body.....eh, he could. They're pretty good in the speed department but if you have the money for the LS3 camaro, then that thing will wake up to mods even better. I had a 2001 Camaro SS (6 speed), loved it. Full bolt on, MS3 cam, supporting mods, and 4.10 gears. Fun as **** car but I think the new camaro ss will be great. At 3800 lbs (only 400 more than the LS1 f body), the extra 100+ hp makes up the difference.

Yeah, that's my only real area of criticism of the car. But if the SS has 420 hp, and Motor Trend is estimating it will do 0-60 in 4.8, I think it makes up for the weight. And I'm also assuming the estimate is conservative. I wouldn't be surprised if it did 0-60 in 4.5. But even if it didn't, the difference wouldn't bother me at all.

Well, what would you recommend for me that's within the price range and performance?

Get the Camaro SS V8 with cylinder shutoff. If money wan't an issue, I would have gotten that. Actually, I would have gotten a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII FQ 400. I love my Cobalt though. But yeah, go with the Camaro.

Not to mention, the LS9-powered ZR-1...is based on the LS3 that the SS camaro is recieving.

meaning there's definately a lot of potential in that block...
