control arm bushing question

Has anyone Pressed their own control arm bushings???
I'm wondering about the front (leading) c.a.b. When you press it back in would you press against the metal mount with the bolt holes or press against the rubber bushing itself
Btw stock bushing could not afford proper Powell bushings

if you can replace that bushing you are a good man. I cant. I Without making a fancy tool like a piston ring compressor only smaller and stronger, to compress the rubber so the bushing can be installed. Good luck, let us know how it turns out. I have failed and just dont bother. Buy a new arm.....

You have to press it around the metal sleeve. Youll have to find something that is the same diameter as the bushing sleeve. Line it up and use a shop press to push it out. Freeze the new ones and install them cold the same way.

you are right, the front does not have a metal sleeve. my guess clunks dont come from that bushing except in extreme cases.
try.
trailing cab for sure. torque for bolt is 145 ft lbs.
swaybar end links
strut bearings.
if an older cobalt try sway bar single bolt bracket loose.
if a newer cobalt 08-10 try sway bar moving side to side and end link hitting arm; note that LS/LT cars 08 up may still have the single bolt bracket 22 mm front sway bar. I am not sure.
