Cool windshield wipers

I dont know if this happens in most cars but I just noticed driving home last night in the rain that when you go over 50mph your wipers speed themselves up for you.

I thought it was cool, sorry if it's common knowledge / repost.

Personally, I find it annoying when they speed up for a sec or two then go back to the setting you had them on. Kinda weirds me out.
