Crashed my Sport into a Fire Hydrant, please help! (Pics)
Wednesday night while driving in my friends neighborhood it was pouring rain. I could not see a thing and accidently drove into the one fire hydrant in the yard. I had hit the right part of my front bumper near the fog lights and dented and cracked my bumper. Also, yellow paint from the hydrant is scratched onto my car. Here's the pic:
I am a noob with cars and prices and what to do BTW.
First, so I figure I will need to purchase a new front bumper and I just wanted to know where I can go about doing this and what is the price I am looking at.
Second, I was wondering if there was any temporary fixes that I can do especially about getting rid of the yellow paint marks. Should I buy factory paint or how should I go ab;out removing it? Or is it not worth it and I should just get my new bumper ASAP.
Thanks for all your help

I'm too JDM for you

you can do a temporary fix...use a little bit of paint thinner to get the yellow hydrant paint off. just be sure to wash it down IMMEDIATELY so it doesn't mess up your paint. then remove the bumper and tap the dent out lightly with a small piece of 2x4 wood and a hammer. it will still be there but it wont look so bad

Try MEGUIERS scratch X or a similer product it should remove most if not all of the paint transfer. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT use paint thinner as its more likly to cause furth damage seeing the paints surface has been damaged. Use a product designed to SAFLY remove the paint such as I described above.

No matter what I use i will be getting a car wash about 2 seconds after I'm finished if that helps.
i will be getting this done tomorrow after work so I think I will be using the scratchX like someone mentioned before unless anybody thinks I should go a different route.
Thanks for all your help
If you think ScratchX is not the best choice leave a post here because i just want the best product to take the yellow paint out of my bumper.

1) Get an estimate from two or more autobody shops.
2a) If you can't afford it in the short run, and it's only aesthetic damage, set aside some money for a couple months and then fix it.
2b) If you can't afford it in the short run, take a trip to your insurance broker. Find out how high it's going to push your premium. If it's something you can't afford, set aside money. Remember, (in Alberta, Canada, anyway) that claim is on your policy for seven (7) years.
3) Whichever you decided to go, then get it fixed. Make sure to research really well, you'll benefit in more ways than one!
Good luck, I just dealt with this stuff, but rear driver side of my car.

thank you very much, this is exactly what I am looking for,
however, do you have any clue what price range a new bumper would be at all? if so thanks very much

Not sure how much a new bumper is, but if you take a visit to your GM dealer, they'll know.

I slid on 1 inch thick ice and damaged my front bumper on the right as well. I bought the front bumper from the dealer at around $300. I had a friend (a great body shop mechanic) I know paint it and it was around a total of 500.
DO NOT CLAIM IT ON YOUR INSURANCE
You will pay more over time rather than just paying for repairs out of your pocket.
As for the yellow paint. See if you can take your finger nail and scratch some of it off. If it comes off, you more than likely will be able to remove the yellow paint and make it look a little less noob.
But sorry about your luck.

Yeah I will definitely not go through my Insurance co.
I found this website that sells front bumpers and I was wondering how buying this would be.

Is it Legit? Is it worth it? Anywhere Else?
Thanks a million everyone
