Question Curb Rash

Hello,
I've recently bought an '06 2.4 SS with the chrome wheels. The wheels however a pretty marked up on both the lip of the wheel and the chrome spokes. There's no problem with them holding air or anything but it is unsightly. Does anybody know if there's a way to repair the chrome especially, but also the lip. Ideally I would like it to look factory. Is there any way to paint chrome onto chrome or something? Pardon my ignorance. Thanks in advance.

the only thing i can thing of (ud have to verify this) is to do it kind of like when you caulk walls with putty to cover up cracks/pin holes then paint them

otherwise you will have to resurface the wheels and repaint them completely (probly a better option)

If the rash isn't too severe you can sand it out, polish it with a buffer and reapply a clear coat. I'm in the process of doing this on a set of ss/sc wheels.

the wheels don't need to be perfect, ^^ this method sounds good, what sort of polish would work for this? Cutting agent, rubbing compound or regular car polish?

You have the stock polished or "chrome" ss/na 17" wheels right? They have a clear coat over the surface of the wheel so you would have to strip that off by using a sander or some sort of chemical stripper. Then you would have to try and sand out what curb rash you can, start course and work to fine paper. For polishing I have a electric buffer with aluminum polish. I got my wheels already stripped so I've been working on sanding then to where i'm happy. It is pretty time consuming.

This is a how to for what your are looking to do. I think there are a few others if you dig through the site.
