Customer Service Issues w/Turbo Tech Racing & Magnaflow
Ok Im very easy to please and usually easy going. I've never been screwed around after buying something but I guess there's a first time for everything. Ok as some people know my magnaflow exhaust sounds like raspy as hell right now because 2 different exhaust shops have diagnoised a bad resonator in my exhaust system. Easy fix right? How about not. Turbo Tech is not a Authorized dealer for Magnaflow and therfore cannot replace anything under warranty if something goes wrong. This is straight words from MAGNAFLOW, they are not a dealer for them. I have registered my system for warranty also so right now Turbo Tech has run out of excuses. I have a magnaflow rep working for me right now trying to help me out since I have been left high and dry by Turbo Tech. For others notice, Turbo Tech buys thier systems from another online retailer and resells them. She tried to call Turbo Tech and they did not pick up thier phones. I heard nothing but good things about Turbo Tech before I bought from them and thats why I did business with them but I guess this is just another case of TOG fever. In any case Im out all my $$$ unless Turbo Tech wants to give me some of this "great customer service" I keep hearing about.
Here are my conversations with them about my warranty claim:
Bad Resonator Warranty
Details: I recently got a high flow magnaflow cat installed along with my exhaust and the guy told me my resonator was bad. So I took it to my closest magnaflow dealer which was a Meineke. He verified the resonator is bad however he is having a problem getting another warrantied part because the Magnaflow rep they are talking to is saying that you are not a Magnaflow dealer. What should I do about this? Thank You, Corey Mullane

Comments: How is your resonator bad? Is it rusted out? There is no way that the resonator could be damaged or worn out already. You would have to contect Magnaflow direct about this. Also we are a dealer as if you visit the magnaflow website you will see we are listed under the dealers page. Having a high flow cat you will hear a bit more raspy noise, this is normal, and is not related to the resonator, just a property of a high flow cat.

Comments: I dont know what makes a resonator bad but when you hit the resonator something inside it shakes like a can of loose marbles and I've had 2 different places tell me to get it replaced. I contacted Magnaflow but they told me to contact the place I purchased it from.I just need to know how to get it replaced. Thank You

Comments: This makes no sence, magnaflow takes care of all warranties. Also, there is no way the resonator sounds like marbles as it is no more than a piece of tube inside a piece of tube with packing material, nothing could come loose. Again, call magnaflow and see if they have any answers as we sell for them, as you again can see on the magnaflow website.

Comments: Also, did you register your exhuast system with Magnaflow way back when you ordered the system? You will need this certificate to talk with Magnaflow. Here is a link: http://magnaflow.com/wideopen/warranty.asp
If anyone wants to visit http://www.magnaflow.com/03buyonline.asp they can see that Turbo Tech IS NOT a dealer for Magnaflow

I PM'd TTR (Aaron) on this site awhile ago asking if they were a Magnaflow dealer or if they just sold catbacks. He replied they were a dealer and could get me whatever I wanted, just to PM him the part numbers and he'd get me a price.
I PM'd him some numbers and asked him some questions, and never got a reply. I waited a few days and resent my PM. This time he replied, saying he never saw the first PM. He answered my questions but never actually gave me any prices.
A couple days later I asked for some prices on different part numbers, and again no reply. Feeling ignored I gave up and ordered Borla from Summit Racing. I'm sure he's a busy guy, but I haven't had any other problems with people not getting my PM's on this board. And I just don't like feeling ignored when I'm trying to buy ****.
But my story isn't anything compared to being out real money for a catback that isn't working or sounding right. I hope someone makes this right for you man.
I've heard a lot of great things about TTR, too. Why the customer service issues surrounding Magnaflow products? It seems kinda odd that I never actually got a price on anything...

Dude, I think my resonator is messed up. My magnaflow makes weird ass noises at startup. It always has. I thought I was the only one that it did it to though. It comes from the resonator and it's embarassing. I think i'm going to replace it with a straight through pipe. One question though, with no resonator, should I still be able to pass emissions?
Well, that's really a shame to hear, they have been really good to me...I have bought a lot of stuff and have a lot of "points" towards free stuff with them, guess I better use those huh? I'm not too worried as of right now, everything of mine has been good, hope you have some better luck in this situation than you have so far...I will keep an eye out on this as well though...

The resonator comes with the exhaust. It's basically a second muffler....you don't really need it. But i knew the sound was coming from the resonator. My dad always says, "That's wwhat you get when you modify your car. Things are never the same anymore"

.... Pass emissions? The only part that will effect that is yout cat. A resonator is just a larger tube around your normaly exhaust tube. It bounces the noise to cancel unwanted sound like popping and rasp. It will show no gains or affect performance anyway.

Sorry to hear you had problems with them man . Aaron at Turbo Tech has been one of the best aftermarket shops Ive dealt with as far as customer service goes . Even compared with all the F-body suppliers I use or have used . Looks like they need to read Magnaflows warranty policy in full though . It does say specifically the returned product must be sent back to the original seller .....alot of aftermarket companies will deal with warranty concerns directly instead requiring you to go thru the seller . Maybe Turbo Tech is un-aware of Magnaflows specific warranty policy ??? A good example of what Im talking about is the Injen intake deal , Injen delt with all the im-proper fitting tubes directly .
Hope ya get it worked out .

Ok it looks like we do have a vendor on here that cares about their customers. Aaron at TTR is taking care of the situation and thats all I could of asked for from the beginning. Thanks Again TTR.
Sorry it took a while to respond, we never saw this thread until about an hour ago. Also by the emails back between us a few days ago, we thought you had it figured out....
This is part my fault as i forgot to follow up with you, to make sure everything was cleared up.
