Delivery Time?
Hey,
If I order a Cobalt around Sept. 1, how many weeks will it take to arrive at my dealership? How long have you had to wait? If you've recently ordered one, what date does your dealer anticipate your car arriving? Thanks, just want to see what others experiences are.
Cheers,
Keith

When i ordered my 97 S-10 i ordered it on January 12th......I picked it up March 12...So 6 to 8 weeks
anything is possible......it mostly depends on what status your dealer has.....the more important they are the faster theyl get your car in...if they are low priority there is a chance you will never see it.....most dealers tell you 6-10 weeks.....but my dealer was high priority and i had it within 3 weeks.....so it basically depends.....how big is your dealer?

I ordered my 07 Cobalt end of July. Production started in mid-August and mine is getting built this next week. Shipping is usually 6-8 days, but since I'm in Cincinnati, shipping is usually shorter. So, 6 weeks is about normal.

noooo way a fellow met fan who will also be a fellow cobalt owner, dude, where did u get that met fan banner?!?!?!?
when i order cars for customers it takes 8-10 weeks depending upon allocation from the thursday or friday when i order till the truck hauler is at the dealership. some options may be on restriction from ordering etc. then you'll have to wait till the next thursday/friday to attempt the order again.
hope this helps

Brian, yeah it does. Not to be brain dead, what do you mean by allocation? What is allocated? Do a sunroofs and an automatic trans usually go on restriction? I am going to place the order with the dealer on Wednesday but I figure it probably won't go in until after Labor day.
allocation means the number of units for each particular car able to be ordered each week....
example: a dealership only sells 3 new corvettes in 2005, gm will allocate them 2 or 3 to order max the next year.
restriction means, a particular part or paint code is not being able to order. example the sport red tint coat of 2007 has been restricted twice since it was announced. so i had to order different colors for cobalts twice.
sunroofs and trannies are hardly ever resticted, the allison transmission in the silverados well yes, every other week. but no issues in the balts.
i flew to NJ to drive mine home with all the options i wanted since it was for the 0% for 72 months sale and 06's weren't able to be ordered. good luck lemme know if ya need anymore questions answered and i'll watch the thread.

Cool, thanks. Well I am doing business with a larger auto group, so I don't think with the Cobalts it should be a deal on allocation. I want the laser blue metallic. My dealer said 4-6 weeks, but he said it could vary as well.
Why would Chevy put restrictions on the red tint? What purpose does that serve?
Where did you have to fly to in Jersey to get your car?

Nice. I'm just afraid that the sucker will show up in like 3 weeks, I need to take care of some other stuff before I take delivery of that car.
I am going with Flemington Car and Truck Country

I ordered my Black SS S/C on July 20th and i picked it up at the dealer on Aug 23 so mine took no time at all. The build date was supposed to be last week but i guess the order went through quicker then expected. LOL i have no probs with that
