Does anyone know whats behind / under this?

So, trying to mount a fire extinguisher in my coupe. (Racecar, and its reccomended) i'm planning on going behind the drivers seat- i wanted to mount it where the carpet ends on that step up where the back seat used to go. It sounds hollow, and i dont see any marks for welded attachments. But i cant see it from under the car.

Anyone know if under that step is anything important, or is it empty space? I dont want to drill into wiring or a line. Haha.

If memory serves correctly the gas tank is right there unless your race car has a different setup up. Just be careful when you drill holes, and you should be good

Hmm. Didnt think the gastank came all the way up to that lip. Once I get it up in the air i'll look and make sure. Just need to pop rivet the fire bottle bracket in place.

Just do it into the floor pan or exhaust tunnel.

I did the floor pan for my old car.

Theres 3 inches of dead space, then i believe its the fuel tank. So it was easy to drill thru, trim the carpet (so much foam) and mount the bottle

Seems to be a good choice.

So youre mounting your fire extinguisher behind you? I thought rules required within reach while belted in and steering wheel on?

No requirement for time attack out here. you dont even need to have one x.x i mounted it behind the seat so that way as soon as im out of the car its right there. theres nowhere else i could put it to have it in reach
