Does ls lt stand for anything

If SS = Super Sport, does ls or lt or ltz stand for anything.

Not sure if this still holds, but when I bought the Malibu, I had a choice of base or LS, and I think the LS was for Luxury Sport.

Then they came out with the LT and LTZ and I have no clue, other than the more letters and the farther back in the alphabet, the higher the trim...

LS means Luxury Sport and maybe LT is Luxury Touring. But LTZ is an odd one I don't think its got a meaning.

They don't mean anything. Just a label.

Blew my mind when GM decided to do away with the base model and make THAT 'LS'.

Especially considering just a few years ago, if you bought an Impala or Trailblazer 'LS' that meant you were getting a pretty sweet car.

IMO, the base should've been the base, the LS should've been the 2.4, the LTZ should've been what it is, with a 2.4, and the SS/SC should've just been 'SS' -- from the factory at Stage 2.

2005 LS had power windows, locks, and a leather steering wheel.

Yeah. The "LS" is typically known as "Luxury Sport" as some others have mentioned and it's just basically just a trim name that Chevy uses. Just like Lincoln had the "Lincoln LS". I'm trying to think if any other automakers use the LS. Thought Toyota did a while ago maybe not. Well Lexus has the LS series....

Same thing with GT. Most of us all usually commonly equate GT originally with "Gran Tourismo", (label first used with Ferraris) or "Grand Touring". Most vehicles with GT trims are considered sport trims, i.e Mustang GT, Porsche Carrera GT, Hyundai Tiburon GT, Celica GT, etc....

GM is just using the LS LT LTZ as a marketing ploy to name their trim levels. Most of these trim names get recycled and used by other auto makers. I guess they are just commonly and phonetically pleasing or something. Ford used LT as a name of the F-150 variant the Lincoln MK LT (perhaps for "L"uxury "T"ruck who knows?)...

but yeah I personally think they all sound gay being used by Chevy, but nothing that's different than I guess by Honda's or Toyota's (who fyi originally introduced the packaging of options in common packages (trims) to save costs) ES, SES, EX, GX, etc....

I always when MS3 owners list their cars as a 'Speed3 GT' (look on dragtimes.com to see what i mean).

Upgrades include:
- HID Headlights.
- 'Rain sensing' wipers.
- Leather fuzzy suede seats.
- Bose stereo.

Nice setup, but not worth the extra $5k over what I paid for my 'Speed3 Sport'. If it's not 'GT' in the Mustang sense, it isn't worth a ******* penny.

And exactly on the older LS. My sister has an 0-something Trailblazer LS and my mom used to have an Impala LS (in previous body style). Both were totally loaded.

The LS in Lincoln and Lexus are the name of the actual model, not trim like Chevy uses.

My bad for not making that distinction yeah those are the model names not the trim names like you said. I was just stating that LS seems to be common among the automakers.
