Door Insert

I know there was a previous post where somebody said the leather was coming out from under the door control/closing insert.

My driver side one is rock solid, but on the passenger side, the front of it is a little lose. It seems it needs to be reglued or something. Has anyone else had this problem? Has anyone taken it back to the dealer for it? It's not big deal. My leather isn't coming out, but it is loose as compared to the driver's side which is rock solid. I expect it will just get more loose as times goes on.

Same

I noticed the exact same problem on mine today after getting it back from service (my gas cap needed replacing, was losing vaccuum in gas lines) and thought maybe something had happened when the tint was re-done on my front window. Guess I'll call the dealer and see if they can seal it up even if they somehow tack it down and make sure the bit of material that is coming loose stays underneath.

On a side note...is the material on the side door in the LS Coupe also leather or is it just vinyl...I was under the impression it was vinyl.

Thanks,

Permafried-

What does the heat shield rattle sound like? I hear a squeak type sound from the back of the car when I go over larger bumps.

im having the same problem. it seems that there IS enough leather there, its just that the control panel thing isnt secured down properly, it seems to me that every SS that i have seen has the same problem its not that bad tho i dont really mind it.

I just arrived from the dealer, he fixed the problem, the door control/closing insert wasn't fixed properly, now it's rock solid, and the leather is underneath the controls!

I'm going to mention this tonight when I go in to have the dealer pull my window trim back up after recently tinting my windows. I was attempting to fix it myself last night but being the handyman I am I couldn't seem to figure it out.

Good to have a heads up, hopefully they can fix it while I'm there and not make me book an appointment.

I noticed a rattle while driving this morning but couldn't figure out where it was coming from...was too busy paying attn to traffic. Maybe I'll be able to pin-point it today on the way to the dealership.
