Door latch might just need some lube ,I would try that first.
Spray the moving parts with some WD-40 especially on the part that actually locks the door shut.

Get some automotive grease from walmart and grease the living hell out of it.

Don't use WD40 either... it tends to leave a waxy buildup that causes issues down the road.

Iv had this same problem. I actually had the dealer replace the D side Handle because it was loose and would raddle when listening to music. After they replaced it I noticed I would have that problem. Iv actually left my car in a few lots with my door not shut all they way because the car will actually lock the doors and beep with the remote even if the door is still not shut! I have to MAKE SURE the door shuts all the way now before I leave. Let me know if you got a fix for it.

Mine is too (Drivers side). It goes in spurts. Pretty sure it just needs greased.

i am hasing the same problem. me and a coworker took my door apart to find nothing looking wrong or broken. reassembled the door stumped as to why it wasn't opening all the time and since then it's been fine. lol

before we took it apart i would just give the door a few light wacks around where the handle is (worked inside and outside) and the handle would work.

could just be a case of tempermental latches. lol

The owners manual (avalible at GM's website if you dont have one) I believe recomends a type of lube for the door handel/locks. Use the reccomended stuff...
Also, too much greece can attract/trap dirt and other grime that can only make the problem worse.

this happens to me all freaking time.. i have a 2006 cobalt ss and its stars off with my driver side door not closing then when i finally get it to close, it wont open from the inside or outside.. when i pull on the latches the have no resistance and the door doesnt open.. after dealing with this problem for a while i found out that you can avoid getting your door stuck.. i found out that this only happens ( on my car) when i get in and the doors electronically lock.. if you unlook and lock your door using your hand and not pressing on the lock/unlock botton u can avoid this problem. just remember to unlock the door manually everytime you get out of your car.. i hope this advice helps somebody dealing wth this problem.. and i think we should satrt some sort of campaing to get this problem fix and for gm to anounce a call back on all the cobalts with this problem..

Since you are documenting it put me down as one of the many who has door lock problems. In fact I will put up a poll that you can show your bosses so they can see the magnitude of the problem
